Just posted this in another thread. I'm still breaking in the engine on my hemi so I'm light on the throttle. I assume the great winter temperature in Kuwait over here is helping too. I mainly do city driving. Most streets (and even highways) here tend to have stop n go or almost empty. Barely ever get normal driving with cars around. I can't complain, my Hemi seems to be holding up pretty nicely with it's MPG.

Done 10,000km when I took this.

Not much of a City out here.

Oh thats sooo good. I'm driving a V6 Laredo (while waiting for my Hemi Overland) and I'm getting like 14L/100km. Then again, I have a lead foot.

I will be driving from Canberra to Sydney tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see how the V6 does on the highway going 110 for 600kms (total)

Re: Hemi Gas Mileage

I will get 14/100 in Perth driving really conservatively.
But if I want to play I will get 19/100.

Re: Hemi Gas Mileage

19.4L/100Km = 12.4MPG. 14L/100Km = 16.8MPG : about right

Thanks, useful website. Yeah sorry to be honest I saw it in KM afterwards. Didn't know there was a L/100KM measurement. All my other cars showed "MPG" even though the mileage counter clocked in KM and the speedometers had the speeds in KM.

CRAP! According to that calculator, my friends tahoe is actually getting better gas mileage than I am.

Oh man, I've gone totally wrong on this subject haha.

Re: Hemi Gas Mileage

Haha I know. On an up note, my MPG almost hit 12 today. 11.8 (made sure to check in MPG by changing the units on the EVIC). Now that I told my friend with the tahoe, she's enjoying a good laugh at my expense. I'm an idiot for including the whole story of how I embarassed myself on JeepGarage lol...didn't help me at all.

Oh well, we all have our days. Gas is cheap here in Kuwait anyways so I'm not too bothered right now and considering the environment, I think there's a lot more crap contributing than just my big ole Hemi (and other vehicles). So I'm alright with the low MPG.

Re: Hemi Gas Mileage

Doesn't it take a few miles for the engine to break in and offer it's best MPG anyway? I got 21 highway (cruise set at 65) with a little over 4k on the ODO. I thought that was pretty good for a V8..

Re: Hemi Gas Mileage

I unfortunately don't do much highway driving, simply cause the highways are usually jam packed when I head to and out from work (8am to 5pm are my hours) and then in the evenings when I go out, there is usually quite a bit of traffic everywhere. Though my MPG is getting better the more I drive her, guess it's true about the break in and getting better mpg as you break in the engine.
