hemi noisy at low speeds

I have a Limited with the Hemi with about 4000 miles on it.
Since the beginning I have been disappointed with the noise the engine makes at idle to about 15 mph. Above that you can't hear the engine.
It sounds like a loud smog pump or old muffler as it is going out.
Almost sounds like a small diesel engine...not what I was expecting and not real happy about it. I love the ride though at cruising speeds. Any Ideas?
Dealer says its normal for the Hemi.

...If you don't like it just get a different exhaust that's really quiet.

Re: hemi noisy at low speeds

It's normal.. I have the same block in my WK and it sounds like a diesel at idle and at times it can sound like an old New Yorker.. normal.

Re: hemi noisy at low speeds

ok guys, thanks for the input. I feel better to know its normal. I suspected as much as I went back to the dealer a few weeks after I took delivery and test drove another one and it sounded the same. Just not the sort of audible I would expect from something billed to be so quiet. Nice ride though.

I came from a Cummins powered Dodge.
I can't even hear this thing running.

Re: hemi noisy at low speeds

Hummmm I have the same issue with mine. It sounds like a 1.3L I use to own.
I figured I would be changing oil soon and see what happens after that. Only have 500 miles right now.
