How fast do you think your Hemi is?

It didn't take me long to realize how fast these babies are. But the other night I had a smaller rig (escape ? ) beside me who wanted to go. I gave it, but I didn't clean this guys clock by any stretch. And that got me thinking... is this rig as fast as I think it is?
If I wanted to test a 1500 Hemi Ram would it kick my ass? Or would we tie?

Sometimes I think we look at the "Hemi" name and drink the Kool-Aid and figure we're almost untouchable.

Weight is a major factor along with some other things but aside from the SRT I think most V8 powered SUVs would come close. Some would beat us at the 1/4. Audi, BMW?

I now realize I'm just another guy with a V8 that drank the Kool-Aid.

Love the truck but I now understand my limits and what it can't do.

Cheers

Re: How fast do you think your Hemi is?

The GC's Hemi is not a drag racer, nor is it intended to be. It's reasonably quick considering its weight, but the tall rear end ratio (as compared to the SRT's higher ratio, for example) is designed more for a balance between acceptable performance and fuel economy instead of pure performance. Bottom line: if you want a GC drag racer, it's the SRT.

Exactly.

While the HEMI is a very capable engine, it's current configuration is aimed at being a balanced one.

And it will get its clock cleaned by a number of 4 bangers, 6 bangers, etc. with better power/weight ratios. Big whoop--your private parts will still be the same size after the experience.

And never, ever, challenge a Tesla unless you are into humiliation.

Drive that Hemi in the mountains or in hilly terrain. That's what the hemi is for.

And with a camper. It does very well, much better than my '99 GMC Yukon with 5.7l Vortec engine.

To the OP, curious what trans mode you were in. D w/ eco on? D w/o eco on? or Sport mode?

I had a '14 Hemi and now have a '15 Escape 2.0. That little turbo in the light Escape is no slouch.

Don't know if it had the turbo but it was a quick little rig. I thought I'd bury him but the HP to weight ratio was in his favor.

Re: How fast do you think your Hemi is?

Coming from an E46 M3, I have no false expectations that the Hemi is speedy. It's quick enough to get me in or out of trouble but i'm definitely not lining up at stop lights.

Re: How fast do you think your Hemi is?

We had traveled the better part of 3 or 4 K hitting every red light. As soon as it went green he would gun it.

By the time I reached the last light before my turn I figured I'd give him a little run for his money.

Can't recall the last time that I did anything like that.

Escape Eco Boost 240 HP and 270 Torque. Not to shabby
