Re: I have installed my new K&N noise maker

I got my K&N for 231 if you get the Volant for 241 that would be a good deal. I have zero complaints about the K&N

Re: I have installed my new K&N noise maker

I'm going for the K&N instead of Volant. K&N has published data on the 5.7 in HP and torque gains (17/15 iirc). Volant won't even tell me.

Re: I have installed my new K&N noise maker

You need to look at that data carefully As has been mentioned in several other threads the results are "representative" and so many other qualifiers that the published data is useless except for marketing. For all we know, they may be reusing test data from an overly restrictive blocked filter chrysler... Just saying that those gains are optimistic at the optimal conditions, no where near what you see on the street. Once the ECU tunes for the new flow characteristics, you may lose HP. Volant probably knows this and won't go there for marketing hype. K&N could care less just to make a buck... What you need is an independent test evaluation. These guys are not going to do that as they know the results will show little street gain, if any. On the track, where routing 6000 rpms are reached it may be a different story.

Re: I have installed my new K&N noise maker

Buck did you disconnect the negative cable? If so, was it a PITA since it's under the pass seat?

make me wonder if it's even really necessary since the computer continuously learns.

Re: I have installed my new K&N noise maker

I did disconnect it and it was easy. Interesting that my mileage was better right after but has settled back to where it was. I thought the adaptives were designed for optimum mileage based on your driving style?

Re: I have installed my new K&N noise maker

Anybody notice any significant mileage gains with a CAI? Looking for any help I can get with gas prices approaching $5 / gallon.

Looks good installed. Now as for that poor engine cover, that thing needs a good cleaning.

Yes sir!
This thing sounds so much better than the CAI I had on my Magnum R/T.
