Re: I'm taking my car to the dyno tomorrow

I can tell you from experience that the AFRs are extremely typical of stock Chrysler programming. This is why i encourage guys to get off the fence and go ahead and buy parts, because 1) tuning is not coming anytime soon, and 2) because ANYTHING that you do to these things will help.

Part of the reason why they leave it so rich is to keep guys that will tow in the middle of the summer in 100+ degree heat from melting pistons. They also have provisions in the PCM too for cooling the catalytic converters.

The Rams are not any different in this regard.

I have a friend with an '11 Ram with a B&G 2010 pcm, Legmaker intake, Magnaflow muffler, R/T converter, gutted cats, and is running 13.5s in tge 1/4 with plenty left in the tune. Another friend with a '12 Ram 4x4 ran a 14.7 stock in 0 DA, and a 14.6 in 1000 DA with one of my TBs. These newbVCT hemis really move out.

Correct me if I am wrong but the AFR is the Air to Fuel Ratio which is the lower chart on your dyno???

You are right. When I was talking with the dyno peeps at first they weren't going to measure it. Looks like they did and I didn't notice. Lol, what a dumb ass

For what it's worth, I am impressed with the factory afr tune. Usually stock has some ripple and noticeable changes to it. I know its only one run, need more data to form a better opinion.

ANDYH - good job man, I have to give you props. Not many people dyno a vehicle you cannot tune, let alone a $40k+ WK2.

Its a crying shame no one has the sack and the deep pockets to do a custom supercharged setup. I know other, older 5.7's have kits. I will put it on my 2012 christmas list (the wife will love me for that). A "real" cold air setup + supercharger (mild 3-6psi) + corsa = High class sleeper. I would love the look on the hopped up mustang/camaro owner's face when he gets smoked by a big ol'e suv.

Just get it cammed with heads and headers and you'll be killing them lol. These Jeeps can be sleepers if done properly and most importantly with a Tune. Period.

[QUOTE=ooja3k;550222]I like how it lowered for Aero :-)

I'm pretty sure that was just the torque of the engine being let off. The lowering of the QL doesnt happen that quick!

Honestly, on these trucks a tune isn't "necessary" and the stock cam profile with the VCT is actually pretty good. Vacuum is a good thing too.

With bolt-ons and with removed/gutted cats the AFRs will lean out and negate the need to lean it out via programming. Tuning the trans would be nice, as would removal of things like TM and COT but the PCM needs little work to optimize.

I know I'll be eventually doing more and more work for these models, manifold porting and such, I'm just waiting for the owners to be ready to mod further.

That would be funny the look.....that's what I get from other drivers usually...in my hopped up mustang..lol....

From dec 2007, since then smaller pulley, better CAI and mail order tune..no dyno yet...still it's just number, you need 1/4 mile times for the real deal!!

All in good fun...I would love a CAI, a good 91 octane tune, and a tuner for my Jeep..

correction factors...
