Impressed with V6 MPG

I haven't been able to get a true gage of the MPG since buying in November and using winter gas and being in cold temps. Well, today I had a 150 mile business trip and averaged 26.9mpg at a steady 70mph. I even calculated it myself and came up with 26.8. Very impressed to say the least. I noticed my in town avg has been up close to 18mpg the last couple weeks as well.

I haven't regretted going with the v6 one bit.

Re: Impressed with V6 MPG

My mileage has suddenly gotten higher, too, with the warmer weather. Over the winter it was always in the 19s. For the last week, it's now suddenly in the 22s. Mixed driving.

City driving; 18 mpg. Highway; 22 mpg. Not bad for a big 4x4

Re: Impressed with V6 MPG

Took a 147 mile trip last weekend with 70 mph Interstate, 65 mph Interstate, 20 MPH Interstate (afternoon Disney traffic), some urban (20 mi.), & about four cool restarts with a 24.6 MPG average.

In counterpoint look here (am a convert from GM) and here. Note: suspect Canadians are reporting miles per imperial gallon, little bigger than US.

Bottom line, IMNSHO the WK2 Pentastar is the most technologically advanced of the current US engines (no diesels available) and the 4400 lb handicap is just the price I must pay for a 5,000 lb towing capacity. Other features and good looks are side benefits to a low long tern TCO. No wonder sales are up.

Re: Impressed with V6 MPG

Hmmm, on mostly highway driving I see just under 20, mixed/city driving <18mpg, city only ~16.

I'v been trying to be a bit lighter on the pedal to see if that improves.

With 20''s or 18''s ? Tire size makes a difference. Just noticed ajs800 has 20'' that's impressive

Re: Impressed with V6 MPG

Yeah, the best I could get all winter with hwy mpg was 23. Again, the 26mpg was 100% hwy and no cruise. I kept it at 70 and was very light on the foot. The entire trip was realitively flat as well.

Re: Impressed with V6 MPG

Ours sucks...but that was to be expected when we bought it.

Kinda miss that Prius though now that gas is $1 more a gallon than when I bought the Jeep...well...only miss the Prius when its time to gas up
