Re: Installed an Airaid Cold Air Intake

If been modding my vehicles for years, and I've never had a dealership give me a hard time for just an CAI. Keep in mind that only Chrysler can void your warranty...a dealership can not.

As long as the modification did not cause the failure then you're fine. If the filter clamp came loose and the the engine sucked in water and hydro locked the engine, that would be considered a failure caused by the aftermarket CAI.

Remember too that we are covered under federal law by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 which states that a manufacturer who issues a warranty on your motor vehicle is prohibited from requiring you to use a service or maintenance item, unless such item is provided, free of charge, under your warranty or unless the Federal Trade Commission waives this prohibition against the manufacturer. Also, aftermarket equipment that improves performance does not automatically void a vehicle manufacturer's warranty, unless the warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle's warranty, or if it can be proven that the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure. And since Chrysler themselves offers a CAI for the 3.6L or 5.7L, an aftermarket CAI should not void your warranty.

"Part #311-212, SynthaMax Dry Air Filter"

Other than color, are there any differences in the #311-212, #312-212, or the #313-212?

Nope...just color. "311" - Red, "312" - Black, and "313" - Blue...all SynthaMax Dry Air Filters.

The "212" series means it's for the Jeep GC/Dodge Durango - 2011 through 2014, 5.7L & 3.6L

If you were to opt for the "310", that's the oiled air filter.

Thanks. Didn't you post about the aFe for the 3.6 awhile back too? If so, what was the deciding factor in using the Airaid? I was looking at the aFe on Amazon in April but they were backordered when they had that promo. going.

I did post about the aFe CAI earlier on in another thread, but cost ($269 currently at Amazon) and the fact the aFe uses a metal intake tube turned me off.

I only paid $185 for my Airaid CAI, the increase in hp/ft.lb you supposedly get is just about the same as the aFe CAI (as all the other brands of CAIs), and the Airaid CAI was an easier install.

Re: Installed an Airaid Cold Air Intake

**UPDATE**

Yesterday I drove in heavy rain for over 30 minutes, and I was thinking maybe I should take a look at the Airaid air filter when I get home since I removed that rubber strip on the driver's side of the hood to increase the flow of colder outside air to the CAI.

I'm happy to report that the air filter was bone dry...so was the inside of the entire heat shield, even the bottom.

Mileage displayed on the dash is averaging 21.1 mpg...and a real world mileage check calculated out to 20.5 mpg last week. For me it seems the dash display is off by about 0.5 mpg.

Re: Installed an Airaid Cold Air Intake

The Airaid CAI seems like a good buy. However, I feel like most of the reason you'd buy besides increased HP and gas would be the sound. If I bought one, I'd want my engine sound to be noticeably different. What would a good air filter be? I know K&N has a good one for the JGC, but I've heard their air filters aren't good or something. I have a 2011 Laredo. Anybody have any good suggestions? Thanks!!

You definitely get a nice sound increase at WOT...

What you don't get is annoying "sucking" or "whistling" sounds like you can get with other CAIs.
