Re: Installed an Airaid Cold Air Intake

The strip fixed to the bonnet would be to pressurize the letterbox opening on the oem and the k&n. I wouldnt remove it. That air raid one does look cheap and nasty not utilizing the opening..

What do you mean? The Airaid CAI uses the stock snorkel...which gets it's air from between the hood and headlight assembly.

BTW, there's nothing "cheap" about the Airaid CAI...quality piece all the way...and no I don't work for them, and I paid for mine.

Re: Installed an Airaid Cold Air Intake

Where did i ever say stock snorkel!!! Maybe its just your pic. But it doesnt look to take its air from the lettetbox type opening.

The Airaid CAI only replaces the stock airbox & filter, it does NOT replace the stock intake tube (between airbox and TB) or the stock inlet "snorkel" that gets air from between the hood and headlight assembly.

An airbox replacement with MUCH more filter surface area to increases airflow over the stock setup...yes.

Are you guys talking about the same air intake(s)? Seems as though one of you have the 5.7 hemi, and the other a 3.6 ...

The Airaid CAI can be used for both the 3.6L and 5.7L HEMI.

Re: Installed an Airaid Cold Air Intake

The Hemi version looks almost identical to the K&N I have. The 3.6 version would obviously have a lot more piping as it has to snake around to the back left of the engine. Love mine though. May switch out at some point for the AFE Momentum as it looks like a more complete solution.

The AFE:

As you see this one utilizes the stock fresh air inlet as a sealed unit. Hemi only unfortunately for the 3.6 lads.
