I have a K&N CAI 77-1563KP with a dry charger and I am very happy with it. I can feel the power difference and fixed a hesitation I had when starting out. I have a 2014 GC Limited 4.7 Hemi.

Re: Intakes Only!!!

The difference is going to be negligible with any cold air intake for a NA motor. If you think you have a faster car because you may have added 5 whp on a car that weighs 5200 lbs then you're either an idiot or in denial. Trust me, I was one of them when I was 19 and put a CAI in my ZJ. My personal butt dyno knew there was a difference in acceleration, in reality there really wasn't anything real. It did make a pretty sweet noise though. I even put a Throttle Body Spacer in it. It made it sound like a freakin bus with a blow off valve but like I said, I was 19.

Your right about the power, you may add a few hp but you wouldn't be able to feel it. It will sound better as well.
Most cars today have excellent intake systems that draw air from outside the engine compartment to aid in fuel efficiency so spending a few hundred dollars on one is not money well spent

I do agree with you on CAI's but suggesting that a fellow member is an idiot is not a nice thing to say.

... a well thought out and professional reply.

If I remember correctly you need somewhere in the neighborhood of 10whp+ to feel it in the butt dyno. I wouldn't see this as unreasonable with a good intake + exhaust combo.

Re: Intakes Only!!!

Well, the K&N dyno chart results shows 15.01 hp and 23.4 lbft increase. Call me an idiot if you want but I can tell the difference.

How old are you now that you are so competent? Also what do you know about horse power when all you have is Yada Yada Yada in your Nissan. lol

I'm not calling you an idiot directly. It is completely foolish to think that you are going to get a noticeable gain from an intake alone. The K&N estimate is just that, an estimate. Their website claims that the numbers are based on vehicle or similar vehicle testing. Like I said, 5 whp isn't going to make any difference for a 5200 lbs vehicle. I put the same thing on my older Jeep, sounds great, doesn't make a lick of a difference otherwise.

I'm a whole lot older than 19. What do I know about horse power when all I have is Yada Yada Yada? lol, you just won the hyper sensitive award! Butt hurt when this thread has nothing to do with you. I dont have the space to put in all of the mods I have on that car nor would I want to take up the bandwidth.

I have a hybrid CAI system... I kept the factory filter box, installed a K&N filter, and used a tube from a Volant system to run charge air bsck to the Throttle Body (which is ported to 85mm) . I liked the Factory filter box because it takes only air from outside the engine bay.
I also use a catch can and a custom tune from HemiFever.
The concept here is that they are all parts of an air inlet system, and little improvements do add up. My 0-60 times have dropped from 8.2 down to 6.9. Not blazing acceleration by any means but we're workin on it....we're workin on it!
