Re: Is it Possible to Completely Turn off "Remote Start"?

When I lived in Fairbanks Alaska I installed remote/low temperature starting systems as a side business. The low temperature starting systems have been in use since the 1940's with remote start added as technology advanced.

One of the first things you learn to do there is NEVER set your parking brake in the Winter if you want to move the car again. Of the hundreds I installed (and thousands in the area) I never heard of a car slipping out of park while the remote or low temperature start was activated.

As a side note - the one manual transmission car I installed a system on ( a friend talked me into doing this for him) did run through the garage door (twice) because he couldn't remember to put it in neutral. Second time his wife had me remove the system.

Re: Is it Possible to Completely Turn off "Remote Start"?

On our 2012 WK2 there is a switch on the passenger side of the hood latch that ensures that the remote start function does not engage when a mechanic is working on the engine. If you unplug the electrical connector to this switch it will disable the remote start from operating at all (hood up or down)... Any modification such as this is at your own risk and could be misinformation. We have not thoroughly tested the ramifications of this change and unforseen risks could be present. We will not assume any liability for this information.

The SW03Es, Snipe315, and five.7 Hemi comments are moronic at best.
