Chrysler has access to several diesels for this vehicle. They wouldn't even need to knock on GM's door. And for what? There's no room for that particular engine in the Jeep. It is also overkill.
They "charged a lot"? No. They didn't. Daimler charged a hefty premium for their little POS engine, and the customers were the ones who ended up paying the price.
Fiat today, is not, and nowhere near the Fiat of yesterday.
The diesel has not been dropped. The 3.0L Daimler / Mercedes Diesel Engine has been dropped. I'll let you guys figure out which engine will replace it. I know.
