Really? I should get mine in a couple days. Why don't you think it was worth it?

I haven't installed it yet. Just asking others if they think it would just be worth saving $175 and just go with a filter instead.

Re: Just installed AFE Stage 2 Dry CAI 3.6L

Unless you put it on a dyno, you'll never know. However, I wouldn't chose a K&N if going drop-in. I'd pick a dry alternative instead: aFe, etc. Once you go to a dry filter, you will not want to go back to oiled-gauze. Maintenance on oiled filters is a pain.

Re: Just installed AFE Stage 2 Dry CAI 3.6L

does the airbox on this afe intake utilize all the air scoops and ducting that are built in to the engine compartment? so that the air is being force fed into the box housing the cone filter.

I like the volant because it looks like a sealed airbox that takes advanage of the builtin factory air inlets. The afe just hopes to create a "seal" when you close the hood i guess, and hope that its enough to protect from heatsoak.

No currently no Volant for v6 - I like many others have emailed customer support without getting any response back at all. I really enjoyed the Volant on my 2011 Hemi / and was willing to wait for the 2014 v6. After poor customer service I decided not to wait and went with the afe. Just got delivered today will install over the weekend.

I assume it's pretty much plug and play right? Any gotchas to look out for when installing?

Re: Just installed AFE Stage 2 Dry CAI 3.6L

Update :: Installed yesterday, went smoothly for the most part, I agree the aFe instructions/pics are pretty bad but having done this a few times in the past I knew how to make do. The temp sensor instructions are wrong, says to remove with a 90degree turn clockwise...thats how to get it ON, to get it off you have to lift the plastic tip and turn 90dgrees counter-clockwise. I almost ruined it.

And matching up the throttle body tube to the main tube took some playing around, as I think it sits too high, but I guess its as designed.

Took the jeep out for a quick 2mile spin after the install and wow I agree it sounds like stock under 4k (which pleases my wife) and has a nice growl if you get on it a little. And like others said, mashing on the go pedal really makes the engine come to life. I really like it.

Thanks for all the tips/advice guys, this form has been awesome over the years!!

Correct! I should have mentioned that in my post... just wishful thinking/hoping that Volant will show the V6 some love.

rcz22 - that is good to hear! and good tips regarding the install. i'm getting tempted.

Just worried about heat soak with afe. Anyone here experience that or lag... like say after a long red light with plenty of time for heat soak to set in, then lack of power when you punch it after the green

Re: Just installed AFE Stage 2 Dry CAI 3.6L

Nice way to waste money lol , just get a drop in .. Factory setup is the most ideal , and i sure would hope these systems utilize the oem air scoops . Open box = Hot air .
