Re: K&N 5.7L 2011 Aircharger

i agree, on the other hand having an extra 15 or so hp for those highway passing lane pedal mashes could be beneficial. how much hp do you really need to lay down while cruising downtown stoplights, or at constant cruising speed on the road (real questions)?

Re: K&N 5.7L 2011 Aircharger

You guys are all neglecting the fact that because of the factory transmission programming, they likely started the dyno at 3000 rpms because they HAD to. any lower and it would force a downshift to a lower gear, thus skewing the readings even further.

OK, so but in any given gear under 3K RPM, what's it doing?

Chances are, not much. I wouldnt expect any losses, nothing significant and consistent on a dyno even if you could run the dyno at a lower rpm.

Remember, our vehicles do not drive on dynos. Very few dyno facilities have the means of replicating real world driving in terms of the relative airflow running into the engine bay.

All of you have valid points. The way I see it, these intakes exist for a reason otherwise they wouldn't have such a good reputation such as K&N does. Now the question you have to ask yourself is are you willing to drop $200-300 for a potential gain of somewhere between 1-17 HP depending on driving conditions, fuel type, driving habits, and atmospheric influences....because I am! Especially when you combine the Air Charger with the JET Stage I Performance Module, then you'll more than likely start noticing differences. Cheers men!

Ryan

For me the most compelling argument was the sound improvement. The video on the K&N site sounded much throatier with the CAI. The stock system just doesn't sound very ballsy.
