K&N air filter question

Just curious, has anyone heard of the 50 dollar K&N air filter voiding the warranty? K&N states that if the dealership tries to void the warranty because of installation, they will talk to the dealer. That seems kind of strange. Can I still purchase it without voiding my warranty?

Re: K&N air filter question

Greetings,

I never heard of that one before by a dealer. K&N and yourself is protected under the The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C). The only thing I think of that would void warranty if the K&N filter disintegrates into the throttle body and destroy's sensors and other components. This will then void the engine and powertrain portion of your warranty. Which is highly unlikely with the K&N products.

I never like the attitude of the Staten Island Jeep dealer and service department. They have all kinds of gimmicks to scary people to use their so-s0 service department. Now, they send out those coupon books to get you in for business since everybody runs else where after several experiences with them. You better of going either into N.J. or Brooklyn.

Best for now.

Sad part is my jeep is already dropped off there for a noise the a/c is making when turned on in the 3000-4000 rpm range lol so i don't have much of a choice. They performed the recalls but now their trying to duplicate the noise. If anything, il show them a video on it. Anyways about the filter, i hear theres oil on the filter but I'm trying to see if anyone has heard of the engine ingesting the oil from the filter since K&N claims on their website they "oversaturated" a filter with oil and put it through a long test and no oil came off. The filter has great reviews on amazon with people claiming it gave them better gas milage and a little more horsepower, so i went and purchased one but now I'm not too sure about installing it

Greetings,

Just make sure that you get the K&N kit to clean the filter and follow the instructions. I had a oil drop-in filters in the past, but I got tired of the cleaning procedure and drying time. Now, I prefer the dry drop. Wash it with soap (Dawn) and warm water.

Best for now.

This!

I originally bought and installed a K&N and then changed my mind and installed the AFE dry filter.
