Re: K&N CAI installed - love the deep note on throttle

I have the K&N CAI and the Corsa on my 2012 JGC Altitude with the 5.7. Under normal driving conditions, this setup is just as quiet as the OEM system, but when you get on it...well that's quite a different story. I've surprised many people and have been told that musclecar sounds like that shouldn't be coming from a vanilla white SUV.

Did it affect your gas mileage one way or another?

Right now I'm seeing a little under a 1 mpg improvement around town, from around 17.1 mpg to 17.9 mpg, but I'm still heavy footing it. Haven't had a chance to check the mileage on a long freeway trip yet.

Re: K&N CAI installed - love the deep note on throttle

Where did you get yours exactly and isn't there a cleaning procedure for the cone shaped air intake since it's replacing the square air filter?

I have the V6 engine, not a V8 like a lot of you on here do. Has anyone tried in a V6 and feel it's worth the cost for efficiency/sound over just a regular K&N Air Filter?

All this is doing is sucking hot air from the engine bay back into the engine (I'm sure some fresh air is moving through the bay, but the majority of it is hot engine bay air). This will kill MPG and "performance", if any. I doubt the butt dyno will tell you if you got any power from this add on. Regardless, this engine came tuned for the stock intake, by putting on another part, it no longer is running at peak performance. A good rule of thumb is that these parts only provide noise, but are unlocked by a tune. Either way, if you appreciate the noise it can be worth it.
How about the K&N filter. Are there any benefits?

Why do I only get 12 mpg around town with my 2012 5.7?

Im asking myself the same thing lol (12mpg seems too low compared to others). Heavy foot maybe?
I just found out I had a cracked exhaust manifold and am hoping thats why my mpg was horrible. (just bought the 2012 wk2 private party) Finding tons of little issues like that... Good news is the bumper to bumper warranty covered all the fixes!

Ill see what mpg comes out to with the exhaust manifold replaced
