K&N CAI installed - love the deep note on throttle

Installed it yesterday with no issues. Fit is nice and looks great. Nice and quiet when driving normally ( that appeases the wife) and sounds mean on throttle. Finally sounding like a V8 should. I kept all of the stock intake just incase I ever need to go back to stock. Took me about 30mim to pop it in.

looks good! Thinking about putting one on soon. Do you plan on putting an aftermarket exhaust in the future? I wonder if that combined with the CAI would be too much...

Re: K&N CAI installed - love the deep note on throttle

I actually didn't mind the stock note of the Hemi. I really do however like the sound of the CAI. I think that plus an exhaust would be too redneck for my taste. I hate the sound of a truck going by and all you hear is the exhaust blat. Plus I can't justify the expense of an exhaust just for sound. I got the CAI for free by referring a guy to my friend who runs a dealership. He ended up selling the guy a maxed out Overland. One friend sold another friend an awesome ride and I got a CAI out of it. Only thing I may do now is rims. Again I have a hookup for those too

Re: K&N CAI installed - love the deep note on throttle

I paid around 230 for my K&N and I fell completely in love with my Jeep again. The sound it makes when you push the pedal down finally sounds like a V8. For free that is a no brainer, but even for 230 bucks to fall back in love with my Jeep was completely worth it.

Re: K&N CAI installed - love the deep note on throttle

Thinking of doing this myself. Can anyone that has done it comment on any noticeable performance/mileage increases?

Thanks,

Re: K&N CAI installed - love the deep note on throttle

I have had mine for about a year now. You might want to add a dry charger as it helps to keep water out and also quiets the sound just a bit. I did notice that it eliminated my dead spot when stepping on the gas.

Did you have any issues with water? The dry charger is the covering?

No I don't have any issue with the water but have it just in case water gets to the filter and yes it is the cover. You can get from K&N, I got mine from Amazon.

Re: K&N CAI installed - love the deep note on throttle

Thanks. Just checked them out. Mighty pricey for what they are. 30-40$ for what is essentially pantyhose or fine mesh. I think if find one on sale I'll pick one up.

What's the mileage difference by installing one of these?

Initially worse as you keep goosing the throttle to hear the Hemi roar. But many claim 1-2mpg increase. I'm on my first week so I'm still goosing the Hemi lol
