Re: K&N cold air intake?

The 290hp is at the crank not what's at the wheels.

Every car, Jeep, or truck is going to suffer a parasitic loss in Horsepower from the crank to the wheels this is not a Jeep specific issue.

Re: K&N cold air intake?

I'd much rather have it the other way around and give up some peak HP to gain some low end torque. But I guess that's not how marketing works...

I think, Airaid`s + ported throttle body is the best combination, imho. When I get a car (in January, I think), I'll go this way. But at that time may appear better options.

The alternative is stock. Manufacturers aren't quite so stupid anymore. They pick the low-hanging fruit themselves. You'll need to spend big money to get much more out of these engines. Anything less and you get some shiny parts that may give you a small boost on a narrow section of powerband while sapping power on the other 95% of the powerband.

Re: K&N cold air intake?

I put mine in this morning in a 2012 Laredo, I can feel the power boost already. Nothing crazy but you can feel it, and it has a great sound

So, do you feel any low-end torque loss?
