Longer start time 2013 Hemi WK2

Lately I noticed on the 1st start of the day, the jeep takes longer to start. After it's been on it fires up instantly like it should.
It only happens after sitting over night. Anyone have this issue before?

Re: Longer start time 2013 Hemi WK2

^^^ - How many miles? I've got about 11K miles on mine, and noticed the same thing about 500 miles ago. Not sure if it's a prob. or maybe just an indication of the hemi being broke-in, etc. It kind of makes me think that overnight the fuel pressure, etc., bleeds off, and on the first start of a new day it takes a bit more time to build up again, but IDK ... ?

I have 14000 miles. I don't think broken in has anything to do with it, maybe fuel pump related?

Re: Longer start time 2013 Hemi WK2

My guess is a fuel pressure bleed off overnight. I've had that happen before on several different vehicles.

What I do is turn the ignition to run to activate the fuel pump. Wait a few seconds (on some vehicles you can hear the fuel pump turn on) then hit the ignition.

Try that and see if that improves your start.

I understand turning an ignition to run without starting and let the fuel pump run, this thing just has two functions, hit it without touching the brake to have the radio on or hold the brake and hit it and it starts. Am I missing something?

Re: Longer start time 2013 Hemi WK2

With your foot on the brake...

Press the button once to start the vehicle.

OR

With your foot off the brake...

Press the button once to turn to ACC.
Press the button twice to turn to RUN.
Press the button a third time to return to OFF.

RUN should activate the fuel pump and allow it to pressurize the fuel system.

After a few seconds you should be able to press the brake and hit the button again to start the vehicle.

Re: Longer start time 2013 Hemi WK2

You don't have to pull out the start button - like MDBones described just press the button twice with your foot off the brake. You can definitely hear the fuel pump kick in and then kick off once it is done priming. After it's done priming put your foot on the brake and press the start button and it will start.
