Re: Magnaflow 16929 installed!

Since I don't have my Jeep yet, I can't check the relationship of the mufflers to the skid plates. Do you have the off-road package? Are skid plates an issue during install?

Re: Magnaflow 16929 installed!

chibianh, the tips are a decent bit larger. they poke out like 1/4 inch too whereas the factory tips were recessed into the bumper openings. they dont stick out enough to reduce departure angle or anything though.

haven't really looked into anything else like the headers, but theres a chance from looking at it that the right shorty headers (long tube forget it with the cat) would work. cant say for sure.

as for the skidplates, i don't have em. however, i would imagine that if you do, they gotta come off for this. once installed there should be no interference though, the whole system is tucked into its little tunnel under the car really well.

rdmacneil, on the highway at about 75 it is quiet, especially because at that speed youre running on all 8 unless its completely flat for a while or even maybe a slight down grade. that said, when it does switch into 4cyl mode, you can tell. pitch rises a little, and noise rises a little (4cyl is louder at cruise than 8!).

.
Thanks for that information. My OVL, when I order, will definitely have factory skids, so will hold on the exhaust until confirmed that it works with the factory skid plates.

Probably a good call. I do plan on installing the skid plates anyway, so whoever finds out first let's share.

i dont think i can do much better than that... ill try to get an interior video when i get back to my camera tho

as for the x-pipe (which is included with the system, if that was a little unclear), it's hard to pinpoint exactly what part of the system does what in terms of sound or power/torque... although from my experience with a whole lot of V8s with aftermarket exhausts the addition of the x-pipe is generally what makes the exhaust note very smooth as opposed to raspy/burbley/popping/etc.

i also fired it up without the exhaust installed (had to know what it was like) and my GOD it is LOUD like that.

if i were a little younger i would have done no mufflers at all heh.

anyway, the system comes highly recommended by me at least.
That particular jeep in the vid sounds like a 4 cylinder at low rpm.. weird, I hope yours doesn't sound like that at WOT.

Those videos are worthless for checking the sound levels of an exhaust. They're only as good as the speaker system you are running from your computer!

+1, maybe download it to a thumbdrive and play in your new wk2 system. that'll close the deal.

vid/audio recording quality is also hugely variable, suggest checking out the borla ATAK video.

Thats a great idea. And to save money, you can skip the price of the exhaust and just call up the sound file and play it

BTW, have an aftermarket exhaust on the WK Hemi and it makes it sound sweet, but I'm nuts that way, all my motorcycles have non stock exhausts.

Yeah right! I must agree with you. Some pictures of that installation is good too. I want to see the progress of magnaflow installation.

Re: Magnaflow 16929 installed!

I have just installed the magnaflow dual split as well and man i am loving it! it will get louder over time mine has already gotten a little bit louder. and also did you notice a stinky smell first few days of driving with the exhaust? i was told thats just the factory coating burning off but i havent noticed that with other exhaust systems ive had in the past, HKS, Apex.. etc
