Re: MDS Vs. Exhaust (Hemi Owners)

So I exchanged the Magnaflow out for Corsa. At face value the Corsa is a better made product. Its packaged nicer, the instructions seem more user friendly, and the materials appear a higher quality (system is noticeably heavier than the Magnaflow). However, installation proved to be impossible. Neither myself nor a local muffler shop could get the Corsa catback to fit. Basically, the flanges that connect to the factory exhaust were over three inches to close as compared to what was needed. Additionally the alignment of the resonators could not be set symmetrical. I elected not to modify it to make it fit and returned it to Summit. I emailed Corsa about this issue and they have yet to reply.

Overall, I feel as though the materials of the Corsa are nicer but the design of installation seems lacking. There is minimal adjustments compared to the Magnaflow and to adjust the position of the tips you tighten a bolt on a bar that connects the two. On the Magnaflow you could adjust the system to fit your level of detail much more (using a tap measure and level to get them identical). The Magnaflow's X pipe did have some clearance issues when the exhaust moves under bumpy conditions. I will post back if I ever hear from Corsa. Wish I could report on the sound differences.

Conclusion for now. Magnaflow was easy to install and could be adjusted for the most discerning tastes. The sound was great but the drone was terrible. Corsa is still a question in my book.

Cheers.

deep18,

Are you waiting for the diesel? Sounds like it is gonna be a real work horse. Over 400ft-lb of torque.

That is crazy man. I could be wrong but, I think every mfg of a catback
for the GC has had at least one person with fit issues.
