When I bought my wife's WK2 v6 we put about 300 miles on it bringing it home and i only used about a half a tank... I was getting a little over 23 mpg.. It was hwy driving the whole way running about 80... It's got a 24 gallon tank
Last two tanks were 80% city, 20 highway. Seems like 375 miles was the average between the two.
On a road trip, about 3k miles round-trip, averaged ~475 miles per tank. But that was all highway.
Wk2 hemi/89 octane.
Have been averaging 20mpg mixed highway and city with the V6. Since it has gotten colder I am averaging 18mpg. So anywhere between 350-425 on a tank here in north central WV
I have the V6 in my 2012 Overland and with far suburban miles with zero highway I usually fill up between 400 to 450 miles to the tank and fill it back up with usually 21-23 gallons of fuel.
Maybe you should become the spokesperson for BP. I heard they are looking for a new ad campaign. You could stand in front of your vehicle with the hood open and as the camera goes in for the close up, you can tell the world your lines:
" I drive the slowest big V8, on premium gas, just because, and I don't even care what the gas mileage is.......
So be like me and help support your local oil company.
With purely HWY driving, I'll get about 520 (averaging 21.5-22.6 if not in the mountains). In the city from about 390-465, depending on if have been driving home in stop and go or driving home after rush hour.
Thats in my 2012 V6, skid plates and front air dam on.
My median range has been 468 miles. I actually maintain a spreadsheet w/ all Jeep related expenses. Fuel cost wise (mine's a V6 engine), it has been $0.18 per mile and average mpg has been 20.75 for the last 8018 miles. My drive is mostly commuting with few trips in the mountains.
^^^Why bash on a guy who doesn't keep track of his mileage? That makes no sense. Not everyone in this world watches their mileage like a hawk. People who buy SUV's and knew what the mileage was going in. If they don't, then that is their fault.
Just my thought above post. As someone already stated, there are other threads like this one out there.
I don't track my mileage at all. Buying a 5.7 there is a certain assumption that gas mileage isn't going to be great. On the other hand I only get about 12-13 MPG. That's New York for ya!!!
Miles per tank means nothing. Who drives until it's on "E" every tank? Just figure MPG, or use EVIC if you care. I like to watch my MPG, but I never pay attention to "how many miles per tank".
Now theres some quality data! Thank you sincerely for posting this. This looks almost exactly like the numbers I see. Do you have some from a more mixed driving period? I seem to end up nearer the 18 mpg range, but I do alot more city driving.
haha, im driving back and forth to work at about 2 miles each way (orlando traffic of about 15 minutes) and small trips in town get me around 12MPG which seems to get me right around 300 miles, sometimes a little less
:/
I kinda want to go on a long trip just to see better gas mileage...
I've been keeping track, but not marking it down. I normally get between 350 - 450 (sometimes more) miles or about 8.5 - 9 hours out of a tank of gas. I own a 5.7L though.
I have a 3L CRD Laredo. On average around town and a bit of highway driving I get about 800km(500miles). I haven't emptied a full tank on a long trip yet but I expect to get well over 1,000km(620miles).
