I'm just curious as I keep seeing "extended range" of 500 miles per tank, and I was curious what the real world average is. Anyone keeping track?

330-350 Miles per tank for the Hemi running on 89.. But I have larger tires and full skid plate package so I guess my GC is a bit heavier..

Re: Miles per tank range

I average 23-24 at speed on the Interstate on 87 PON. It will go farther than you will without stopping.

Phoenix to LaLaLand piffle bet we could go from Tucson to LA onna tank. Maybe even from Bisbee. (ref advt from '73)

That's it: The Bisbee to Queen Mary Memorial Trophy Dash. No stops allowed !

Re: Miles per tank range

I have the V6 in my 2012 Overland and with far suburban miles with zero highway I usually fill up between 400 to 450 miles to the tank and fill it back up with usually 21-23 gallons of fuel.

Maybe you should become the spokesperson for BP. I heard they are looking for a new ad campaign. You could stand in front of your vehicle with the hood open and as the camera goes in for the close up, you can tell the world your lines:

" I drive the slowest big V8, on premium gas, just because, and I don't even care what the gas mileage is.......

So be like me and help support your local oil company.

I get just under 400 on average. I typically fill up around 1/8th of a tank, and put in around 21 gallons. Im about 50% highway; WK2 Hemi.

My median range has been 468 miles. I actually maintain a spreadsheet w/ all Jeep related expenses. Fuel cost wise (mine's a V6 engine), it has been $0.18 per mile and average mpg has been 20.75 for the last 8018 miles. My drive is mostly commuting with few trips in the mountains.

Just for comparisons sake.
I usually get around 850km (530 miles) from fill to fill. If I let it run right down it will get 950km (589 miles).

Using the published figures from Jeep for the car it has a theoretical highway range of 1150km (714 miles)

This is obviously with the export 3.0 diesel.

Cheers,
Matty

^^^Why bash on a guy who doesn't keep track of his mileage? That makes no sense. Not everyone in this world watches their mileage like a hawk. People who buy SUV's and knew what the mileage was going in. If they don't, then that is their fault.

Just my thought above post. As someone already stated, there are other threads like this one out there.

Miles per tank means nothing. Who drives until it's on "E" every tank? Just figure MPG, or use EVIC if you care. I like to watch my MPG, but I never pay attention to "how many miles per tank".

Now theres some quality data! Thank you sincerely for posting this. This looks almost exactly like the numbers I see. Do you have some from a more mixed driving period? I seem to end up nearer the 18 mpg range, but I do alot more city driving.

That is what you get when you buy those BIG American vehicles.

haha, im driving back and forth to work at about 2 miles each way (orlando traffic of about 15 minutes) and small trips in town get me around 12MPG which seems to get me right around 300 miles, sometimes a little less

:/

I kinda want to go on a long trip just to see better gas mileage...

I have a 3L CRD Laredo. On average around town and a bit of highway driving I get about 800km(500miles). I haven't emptied a full tank on a long trip yet but I expect to get well over 1,000km(620miles).

I average in the low 400's - Stock 5.7L

I see in your sig you have a dual battery setup. Where did you place the second battery?
