Re: **NEW**4.8 V8 Pentastar based engine for next gen WK(2015-16)?

So I stumbled upon this and I'm wondering if there's any updates on the new V8? Is this still in the works and could it be in the 2015 WK2s?

I wouldn't expect to see until at least the 2016MY. ( just guessing)

Lurking deep into the shadows of the forums and stumbled across this.

There still any truth to this rumor for the MY16?

Why has Chrysler avoided Turbos. Ford has two on the Explorer sport. And many high end cars are using them. They used to be awful years ago but reliability has really improved.

Just a thought.

I'd take a high displacement pushrods over a equal sized dohc when gas is cheap .
I like the pushrods motors and hope they stay around for a long time. GM has proven they are a still an excellent power platform that has both power and economy.

Most definitely!

RAM/Chrysler/Jeep needs a great aluminum block V8!

Recently read a truck comparison in Car & Driver about the new aluminum F150, Chevy Silverado, Ram, and Toyota Tundra.

Tundra came in dead last because the engine that was big news 5 or so years ago is feeling dated now.

RAM came in third... Loved the air suspension and RamBox, but the cast iron lump under the hood killed it.

Chevy with 6.2 V8 came in a very close second to Ford with 3.5 V6 EcoBoost. Both had great hp and torque numbers and same mileage. They liked the low end torque of the 6.2 V8 better, but the Ford edged out the Chevy by a few points.

But they seem to lack in low end toque like a good old American V8.

Just read any truck review comparing a V8 with the EcoBoost V6.

The ONLY way to get the claimed mileage from the EcoBoost is to be very light on the go-pedal. And if you are towing that is a royal pain.
