Re: noise in engine

pretty common on the 3.6 V6 if your using dyno oil. I use Mobil1 5w30 extended perf. so its very faint on my 3.6

Re: noise in engine

It's an unfortunate characteristic of this engine. I just turned 9K and it's definetly louder now than when the vehicle was new.

Re: noise in engine

Well, I can't say I'm thrilled with hearing these reports about the new Pentastar engines. I just gave my son my 2003 Explorer with 95k. Burns no oil, has no leaks and purrs like a kitten. Maybe I'll take back the Explorer and give him this highly rated Grand Cherokee Jeep...it's even trail rated. Oh,by the way, it's very quiet inside the car with the windows up. I guess I'll just have to never stand ,outside, next to my car with the engine running. Then I won't hear the noisy lifters.

Re: noise in engine

This is doing this in my Hemi only has 4300 miles on it. It comes and goes and its pretty annoying. also i got my oil changed at dealership and JEEP uses semi synthetic oil. is this a problem with hemi's as well?

Re: noise in engine

Are you sure it isn't injector noise? Some injectors can be quite noisy.

Has the oil been changed recently?

all the jeeps that my dealership sells have the oil change intervals set to either 3000 or 3500 mile intervals.

It does not seem that life of the oil is that long and besides that the oil filter is pretty small too.

I decided to wait until the second oil change to use Mobil 1 5w-30 extended performance.

After I change the oil to synthetic the engine is so much quieter than it was prior to using Synthetic so that alone justifies the cost of the mobil one.
