Not impressed with CIA

I' installed an airaid Cai on my 2014 altitude and I use say I am the furthest thing from impressed. I have a k&n on my wife's 2012 and feel like it gave it quite a bit better power and mpg increase. Does anyone think that if I swap out the airraid filter for k&n it will make a difference???

Re: Not impressed with CIA

I guess it depends on what your expectations are. When I installed mine, I expected a awesome sound with no increase in millage or performance. Honestly, I think anyone that feels more performance from a CIA alone is kidding themselves. IMHO

Re: Not impressed with CIA

On a 3.6L N/A engine with NO tune...nope.

I installed an Airaid CAI on my 2014 Overland and I like it...but then again I installed it for different reasons:

1) Slight increase in gas mileage

2) Slight increase in sound at WOT.

3) Slight increase in responsiveness.

Most people won't feel the 10 - 12 HP / 12 or so ft lb of torque one gets on these CAIs without a tune & exhaust.

Greetings,

I total agree. Without completing the 3 key elements for basic engine performance mod, one single element will not give the full performance that is expected. On my V6 with the aFe CAI, i have same results that you do. Next up for me is the exhaust sometime at the end of the year and the tune hopefully the following month. I am hoping with the complete package I should get in the area of 15-20 additional HP and torque.

I am wondering if upgraded throttle body will be beneficial?

Best for now.

Re: Not impressed with CIA

Greetings,

I debating between a cat-back or an axle-back as in the Gibson. The cat-back, it is between the Flowmaster 817628 or MagnaFlow 16991. Sound is not so important, rather the output performance.

With the CAI installed, I now have to relieve that back flow pressure.

Best for now.

Re: Not impressed with CIA

I installed the K&N CIA (with prefilter) on the weekend and wasn't expecting much difference. I figured I'd need the exhaust and programmer to get the real result.

But I must say I'm impressed.. I'm not sure if there really is more HP but it sure sounds mean and that makes it feel like more HP. The stock filter was fairly dirty.. Still have a dead spot in the acceleration that I think the tuner will correct.

I plan on getting the Corsa exhaust in the spring and tuner from Hemifever
