Paint exhaust tips???

I ordered a magnaflow exhaust for my 14 JGC Altitude. I was wondering if anyone has painted the tips black, and if so what did you use. I know corsa has the Blk exhaust but I really love how the magnaflow works on my other JGC. I was thinking maybe gloss engine paint but I don't know how the hell ill get it off if it looks like crap

All paints even the engine paint will fade after awhile.. for lasting results it should be powder coated.

Re: Paint exhaust tips???

The auto parts stores sell high temp black paint that you could use. There's even a ceramic paint rattle can that I used to paint my motorcycle exhaust.

Prep is everything.

Re: Paint exhaust tips???

I used Rust-oleum "Universal paint & primer in one" to paint my Challenger's tips black. It comes in a can featuring an "any angle" nozzle and works well. Had it on 2+ years and still looks fresh. I also painted my front chrome grill with it and there are 2 very small areas where rocks chipped away some paint. I don't think exhaust tips get very hot so it's not necessary to use a high temp paint.

Re: Paint exhaust tips???

Do it right once and get them either ceramic or thermal coated. You spent enough on the exhaust system, whats another $50-100

You can safely assume surface temps in the 300-400 degree range on a tip. That's not exactly the higher end of some of these paint options but I wouldn't go with a regular rattle can.

Re: Paint exhaust tips???

I wouldn't recommend painting the tips. Does Magniflow offer black polished tips? Corsa offers either chrome or polished black.

Re: Paint exhaust tips???

Have them powder-coated with hi-temp resistant stuff.

Do a google search in your area... I bet more places offer it than you expect
