This is going to get locked, use whatever oil you want, it's all personal preference.

I think there is one guy here who absolutely knows which is "best" but he is out on sabbatical for the next few years, and the rest of us just have opinions, which are like what the proctologists take care of.

Both are excellent oils. Pennzoil has one made entirely from gas, aka dino farts, should that make a difference to you or any young sons.

You know what? I'm not changing my oil until he gets back and enlightens us. That would be better than selecting a brand randomly. I'm pretty sure the wrong brand will ruin the resale value.

Re: Pennzoil vs Mobile 1

Which ever one is less expensive...

I believe the 5w20 Mobil 1 (for the 3.6L) has not been "certified" officially by Chrysler yet (a.k.a. greasing their palms).

I choose one is Pennzoil ultra platinum 5w-30 , It's been "certified" officially by Chrysler MS-6395.

Don't know what Mobile 1 is, but I do use Mobil 1. Maybe that's what you meant?

Re: Pennzoil vs Mobile 1

I use Penzoil, but the Mobil 1 sure does look attractive when it's on sale at Costco for $25 for six quarts.

Re: Pennzoil vs Mobile 1

This is what I found. Ultra Platinum is said to keep pistons up to 25% cleaner rather then only 20% cleaner from the just the standard Platinum.

I had a link but it's not working.

Ones more expensive then the other.

Re: Pennzoil vs Mobile 1

Not much difference from what I've noticed. I use Ultra on my Hemi Ram. On my wife's 3.6l Journey I used the regular Platinum. Now that she has a Hemi powered Jeep I will use the Ultra on both vehicles.
