Re: Pentastar Throttle delay

Good Advice Jake.

Some of those dealership guys can be real d**ck heads. Saying such things as "Let me guess you heard it on the internet" and then they start laughing. They don't care if you have a TSB in hand or not, they will make up excuses, such as, "well this TSB does not pertain to your vehicle."

Anyway I have not had this problem at my dealership yet- they have been really helpful thus far so I will give it a shot.

Thanks for helping.

Re: Pentastar Throttle delay

Took my 3.6 GC in yesterday for the updates. As usual I knew the Service advisor would not be on my side, when I showed him the TSB he looked at it and said this may or may not apply to my vehicle. He also made me explain in depth what my vehicle was doing. On parting he said he would show the TSB to the head technician, he also asked me where I got the TSB- and I told him off the Chrsyler technical web site. He said they probably would not be able to duplicate the problems I described.

They called me 3 hours later and said the vehicle was ready and that they were not able to duplicate the problems I described and that they did apply the TSB update.

They put a sticker on the engine management module saying the update had been done. On the paperwork they stated that TSB's 18-012-11, 18-19-06-J7 and 18-19-05-92 had been performed.

My jeep was drivablity issues were not especially bad, just kinda bad, but the updates had no performance improvement noticable by myself or my wife as well.

Can't wait until Diablo Sport makes an aftermarket tuner that totaly eliminates the throttle lag and boosts horse power. I would put money that this engine has at least 20 hidden Horsepower in it and that is without an intake or exhaust. Bump the spark advance up, richen fuel curves and let the fun begin.

Can you post a picture of the sticker? They seem to be rare.

The easiest way to handle it is to say "I was having X problems (where X is found on the TSB under the list of symptoms), and found this." If you just say "hey, there's a TSB, do it," they won't- TSBs are not recalls and may not even be required for every vehicle (example- mine doesn't suffer from the HVAC issues, so I'm not bothering with it). No symptoms = no reason to waste time dealing with it. But if you explain the issue that you're really having and there's a TSB that covers it, that should be a pretty quick item.

Re: Pentastar Throttle delay

Agreed. That is kind of what I did.

As I had feared it did not go as well as I thought and I had to push the service writer a bit to get him to accept the TSB.

I will try and post a picture.

Same thing happened with me, could not duplicate - except they said they didn't do anything to my vehicle...however, when I got it back, it is noticably more powerful off the start as it stays in 1st a bit longer than it used to...I'm wondering if they just reset my Shift Controller or something? Beacuse it's starting to wear off and i'm getting premature upshifts again...

An aftermarket ECU Flash would be the answer to all of our dreams at this point!
