Performance difference between Wk & WK2?

Quick question.
What are the performance time differences between the HEMI in WK & WK2?

Sorry in advanced if this had been covered. Very limited search ability on a phone.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Performance difference between Wk & WK2?

Whatever I am driving is faster, because I am that good.

I would guess the WK would be faster because it weighs less than the WK2 and has the same engine and tranny.

Lol...I feel the same way.
But isn't the newer HEMI a bit more HP? 345 vs 390?

Re: Performance difference between Wk & WK2?

Don't quote me on this, but from what I've read, there isn't that much of a difference. The early Hemi(05-08) had approx. 335hp and the later Hemi(09-10) had 357hp. The WK2 Hemi thus far has just 360hp. The 390 you're thinkin about is in the Ram, my friend has one

5.7Unlimited is just really nice
Re: Performance difference between Wk & WK2?

WK is 'faster' than WK2 (the following refers to a limited model with 5.7 and 4x4)

WK has 330hp from 2005-2008, 2009 and 2010 have 357hp
WK2 has 360 HP
WK has 3.73 rear axle ratio WK2 has 3.47 (making it slower)
WK weighs roughly 4700lbs WK2 weighs 5150lbs

A big thing I've noticed though with my new WK2 I picked up last weekend is that the power delivery is much smoother and more refined, I had a 2007 and the electronic throttle lag is brutal in those things compared to the WK2 where there is practically not lag at all.

One thing that is really good about the final drive ratio however is that at 120kmh it will only be running about 1600rpm which makes for better mileage, the WK would be above 2000rpm. I would get 16.5MPG before at that speed, now I get 19.5-20

Re: Performance difference between Wk & WK2?

Generally speaking the hemi delivers similar performance in WK1 or WK2 flavor.

However the new 3.6L Pentastar six is much better than the 3.7 six in the WK. ( approx 80hp better.)

Re: Performance difference between Wk & WK2?

Had an 05 WK Hemi Limited. It is definitely faster than my 2012 Hemi Limited. The 05 used to do 0-60 in 6.8 seconds. I timed it with a Diablo Sport Trinity.

Re: Performance difference between Wk & WK2?

Only Big difference is the V6 wk2 having the 3.6 vs the 3.7, 80HP more. You stomp all 3.7 wk's with the 3.6.

80HP is a huge gain. even if the weight is more.

Hell my 4.0L WJ could keep up with the 3.7 WK.

Re: Performance difference between Wk & WK2?

A 2008-2010 WK2 5.7L is most likely faster than the WK2. It's a simple matter of power and weight. But if you're buying a V8 GC for the performance, you're looking at the wrong vehicles.

Re: Performance difference between Wk & WK2?

Just bought a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 Hemi 5.7.
Do I have a WK or WK2?
Sounds like a WK from what I read here.
My HEMI states 360 hp.

Thanks
