Question to anyone with a K&N CAI on a 3.6...

Has anyone that has this installed noticed a tinny sound at the top of the RPM range? I am not sure if it is a rattle, but it sounds more brassy than a rattle. Grunts nicely at low RPM, but starts to sounds like a Civic with a fart can at top of range 👎

That can't sound very good........Hey wait a minute my wife owns a Civic

Seriously, lots of guys around here have installed them. You'll be swamped with replies. But from what I've read everyone loves the sound and performance.

I'll be pulling the trigger come the spring. Hopefully.

Haha! No disrespect to the Civic! I've seen a couple that can run an 11 sec 1/4 mile, so much respect 😉

I pulled off the engine cover to see if that helps if it is from a rattle. Fingers crossed, but not high hopes...

Well hell - looks like YouTube answered my question, since this is exactly what mine sounds like at top RPM, so guess it is normal for the CAI.

2:24 seconds in he floors it - high end range is exactly what mine sounds like that I was hoping was a fluke.

Ah well - I may not floor is as much, but I do still love that low RPM growl

I'm guessing that noise is coming from inside the muffler unless you've never heard it before installing the CAI. Dan

Never heard it before install - may just be amplified now due to the new setup, but it sounds like it is coming directly from the front though. Guess I was expecting the growl all the way through the range. May need to find a vid or person on here that has both CAI and exhaust on the 3.6 to see if that changes the sound.

Re: Question to anyone with a K&N CAI on a 3.6...

First time I heard it I thought a bunch of things...

Did I drop something into my throttle body?
This can't be what everyone is calling a great sound?
Are my valves really floating this bad?
I'll never floor it again unless no one can hear me...
I typically shift at the rev limiter all day so this scared me at first.

It's actually become a very nice mid throttle sound and I am used to the WOT tantrum so I apply accordingly. It's a nice growl 85% of the time.

I also have wrapped the intake tube and lined the intake box, I'll be finishing the lid soon and have a filter wet sock coming in. Just cause.
Gives you an idea just how well the factory piece was made.

Haha! Okay - glad I'm not the only one 😉

I may go with the sock too, so let me know what you think once you try it out. Any way you can post a vid with the sound after install?

Which sock/wrap did you order?
