Re: reasonable weight to tow with 3.6 pentastar.
Hello all, I just came back from a camping trip up high (8,500FT) in New Mexico. Beautiful location and peaceful. OK, to the point I towed a travel trailer with my 2013 GC 3.6 and I'm not impressed with its towing power. I estimate I hauling around 3,300lbs. While the GC certainly took us to our destination and returned safaly with no mechanical problems or the like, it was working hard to pull the trialer.
My setup has a weight distribution hitch with anti sway (performed very well) and the GC has an AEM drop in filter. On long stretches of highway the GC would seldom shift into 4th or higher. Most of the way it was running in 3rd gear at 60 MPH, sometimes kicking down to 2nd on hills.
My point is I am considering getting something more powerful or maybe doing a Ripp supercharger but I'm afraid if I do, I may encounter driveability and reliability issues.
I owe very little and I really don't want to tack on anaother $30K if I get a diesel GC.
Are there any other options? Hemifever tune, Diablo, etc?
