Re: reasonable weight to tow with 3.6 pentastar.

No, the load leveling rear shocks are part of the factory towing packages. No towing package, no load leveling shocks.

Im sorry I didnt note any mileage numbers being a releatively short trip. As for brakes, My trailer has hydraulic surge, so no controller. My JCG is Laredo base. I will be watching the tranny temps this summer and base a possible cooler addition on what I see.

Re: reasonable weight to tow with 3.6 pentastar.

Know I'm bumping an old thread here, but how does one interpret the frontal area limits? I did a quick calculation of the Jeep itself and it has a frontal area of 36 sq ft...if 40 sq ft is calculated based on the entire trailer then I can't tow anything that is taller than the Jeep. I don't right now but I was just looking at travel trailers and anything other than a pop-up will have a frontal area over the 40 sq ft limit.

Re: reasonable weight to tow with 3.6 pentastar.

Page 530 of the OM: "The frontal area is the maximum height multiplied by the maximum width of the front of a trailer."

So you can safely tow at highway speeds a trailer that is tall, depending on its width.

If you are towing at lower speeds I don't think it would matter.

Most camping trailers are about 8 feet wide which would mean they would have to be no more than 5 feet tall...

Re: reasonable weight to tow with 3.6 pentastar.

I just noticed that the OP was in Germany so more than likely the JGC he owns has the BR1(European Anti-Lock brakes) coded brakes which should be the same as the BR6 (Heavy duty brakes) So he shouldn't have to worry about the brake being inadequate, and if they really wanted to they could add the LL Shocks and complimentary springs.
