I agree though, I think as long as you aren't doing brake stand launches all the time (like the SRT guys do with their launch control), then the drivetrain will probably hold up fine. Not much shock loading when you're just getting on it on the highway here and there. Nobody really drives a V6 Jeep to go drag racing as far as I know.

I still just want to hear what RIPP has to say.

And again, I don't exactly believe in the "gotta pay to play" when you're talking about an entry level supercharger system. A bunch of companies make blowers and turbo kits for dozens of NA vehicles and their base model kits should be tried and tested to be SAFE for the average joe who daily drives the car and just wants a bit more power/fun. I fully expect even this higher HP tune to be safe for me doing a high speed pull on the highway every once in a while without grenading the engine/trans/diffs. I don't think a mass market blower kit should be breaking parts.

Again with mustang references, I put a Vortech S-trim on my GT years back and ran low boost (10-11psi) with no intercooler, making about 150whp over stock. I drove it for around 35-40k miles on the stock engine, trans, diff, and everything else without a single problem. And I drove it HARD as my daily driver, lots of high speed runs on the highway, autocross, and dozens of runs at the strip. It performed flawlessly and I would expect this kit to do the same.

Re: Ripp Supercharging my 2014 3.6 Grand Cherokee

Dcorn, I think you're reading too much into the "new kit". The kit sold now is within the ratings for both 5 and 8 speed trans. The 400whp video kit is still in development, but uses a smaller pulley already sold by them for the wranglers as a "high altitude" upgrade, so the engine can candle the extra boost. When I spoke to them last they seemed confident with the setup (including trans), so much so Ross was thinking of picking one up for himself.

I can tell you I'm not afraid of the "stage 2" kit when it is released, I know the W5A580 can handle it.

Unlike GMGC2014, I do not normally drive it conservatively. I romp on it every time I drive it, and have no worries about longevity.

How many of these entry level supercharger kits come with a warranty on your engine and power train? Does Ripp offer anything?

None as far as I know. I was just pointing out the lack of warranty you get on a kit when you buy one, that adds to the you have to pay to play theory.

Re: Ripp Supercharging my 2014 3.6 Grand Cherokee

No aftermarket company can warranty the life your engine after a part install, too many variables. They don't know what the condition of your engine was before install, they don't know that you'll change oil in regular intervals, that you don't do neutral drops from 5k rpm daily.... Not realistic.

The only way it could be covered under a warranty is if they got into the Mopar performance catalog, where Jeep themselves would still back the factory warranty (such as with Ford) but Jeep will never do it IMO.

Any Canadian WK2's get this kit strapped on? This would turn my '14 Limited Hemi into quite a sleeper.

At this point it is putting down 360awhp with still the 8psi. Ripp had the upgraded pulley on there but the fuel pump was falling off in higher rpms. I can tell you that they have successfully transformed this truck again. It is so much more responsive and has very noticeable gains from previous setup. It drive great and i am already at 19 mpg after one day of driving. The bov is significantly louder now after the increased air flow. I will now sit and wait patiently for ripp to solve the fuel pump issue. Ross said that with the 11 psi pulley it was consistently over 400 but did not want to take any chances until fuel upgrade was available. It definitely pulls real hard now all the way through especially down low.Attachment 58258Attachment 58259Attachment 58260

Are they willing to try something like a Kenne Bell Boost A Pump or do they want to install a larger fuel pump? Could be a quick fix just for when you're in the higher boost range. Awesome Jeep by the way.

Check out the Vortech site. I think they actually offer a 1 year engine warranty on a few of their blower kits if you get them put on by a certified installer.

Re: Ripp Supercharging my 2014 3.6 Grand Cherokee

Two questions;

1. Living in south, does heat and humidity impact RIPP supercharger performance
2. Does installing this void Mopar warranty, I have MaxCare lifetime warranty and would hate to see it voided?
