I had buyers remorse.

I have had both. I bought a '12 Limited V6 in December '11. I traded it March for the same JGC but with the V8.

The V6 was a good engine. Quiet smooth. Where I had issues was in stop and go traffic. It had a lull it just wouldn't pull out of.

The V8 isn't a beast, but it has the torque to pull throught those instances.

Mileage, 19.7 vs. 17.0, so that hasn't been a factor. though.

Unfortunely I would have to put down at least 6k in cash to make the trade to the v8. Ive had it for a year and I still owe 30k. My payments are $566 a month. So financially it would make no sense.

Fortunately I don't have to change the spark plugs every 30k and I don't have to pay for 89 octane in sf. Which is well over $4 a gallon.

Also living in the city that is notorious for hills Im averaging 12.5 mpg. What would it be if I had the hemi? 10mpg. That would be nuts.

Those San Francisco hills ain't no joke. I've been out there for work and the rentals cars struggle with v6 power.

Two things I love. 4 wheel drive Q1 and hill start assist. Some of these hills are crazy and cars with fwd will spin their tires like crazy. A lot of burnt clutches too. I never have problems on any hills even while at a stop light on a 45 degree plus angle.

My take on which engine to buy - get the biggest available for the vehicle. There's a reason they equip it with a bigger engine

It is comical to me how people justify the V6 by saying they are glad they don't have to pay $64 and use an hour of their time every 30k miles to replace the spark plugs. Also, 89 is not a requirement, just a suggestion. While I typically use 89, I occasionally run 87 as some of the stations around here only have 87 and 93. I could mix them to get around 90, but it runs fine on 87.

FWIW, I have seen quite a few posts on here concerning people regretting their V6 purchase or eventually trading up to the V8. I have never seen anyone regret getting the V8 and trading down to a V6.

I'd like to know who's replacing 16 plugs in an hour? Maybe on the 4th time, but not the first. Or maybe it's much easier on the WK2? The job on my previous Aspen (Durango) averaged 3-4 hrs first time. However, that's not a deal breaker for me either.
These V6 or V8 threads are getting old. Both are great. Owners can be happy with both. If you want to race the car in the next lane, buy the SRT. If you need to tow, or want great torque available at any speed, buy the 5.7 Hemi. If you want best fuel economy (and possibly end up in the shop for a month waiting on head replacement), buy the V6. Simple. All are great in their own special way .

When purchasing my WK2 I was at the same reflection point, V6 or V8. Before showing up to the dealer my mind was made up to get the V6, but since the dealer was closing they allowed me to take home a V8. That was it for me, spent 24hrs driving it and at that point it was a no brainer. Now I did come from a X5 4.8 but the point of getting the Jeep was to lower my monthly payment and fuel costs, The other thing I was worried about was the 5 speed tran, as it seems to have a hard time finding the right gear when traveling on a uphill winding road. Anyway I am very happy with the V8 and have no regrets.

When the diesel arrives in the us take it for a test drive it will amaze you , full 550 nm of torque at 1800 revs,eats the v6, quicker off the mark than the hemi and overtaking with such ease i sometimes forget it is a diesel, all this with economy better than both petrol v6 and 8, 950 to 1000 km's per tank easily achievable!

I bought the sprint booster for my 2012 overland V8, and it did not work. Once I plugged into the throttle, I got check engine lights, and the car speed was limited to 25mph. The computer obviously throws off the SprintBooster. Just spend your money on a cold air, and wait untill a tuner or supercharger comes out
