You can do both. The sprint booster is not a power adder it just makes your jeep feel more responsive by eliminating lag and boosting the signal from the drive by wire electronic throttle.
Some tunes may have the ability to do the same thing but I'm not sure. Strongjeff runs hptunes and a sprint booster so pretty sure it depends on the tune maker.

Yup, the Sprint booster for WOT throttle tuning and hptuners to refine part throttle operation. Throttle mapping courtesy of me lol.

Re: Sprint booster

Is there any comparison between me driving my 2013 JGC V8 with my SB in the Red mode and my son driving their 2016 Dodge Durango with it's V8 in the Sport mode? No, I'm not referring to our driving styles, just SB vs Sport mode.

I would have to say yes. Sport mode I would think would fall just under sb in race mode. I could only imagine SB in race + Sport mode would be something how mine is setup now on my 3.7. I'm using the SB in race + a complete throttle remap using hptuners

I can't speak to the Durango but my GC with V6 still had a lag in sport mode before I added the Sprint Booster. Now, with SB in green mode, normal now feels like sport mode minus the lag and sport mode feels like an enhanced sport mode. If your son still feels a lag at start off or when passing a car in sport mode, the Sprint Booster could take that out for him. I haven't even tried the red mode. Green did everything I wanted for my driving style so I just unhooked the controller and put it in the glovebox. I'm not sure if this answered your question, but for comparison you could put your GC in sport mode and turn off the sprint booster then turn it back on to see the difference. I would guess it would have the same effect in the Durango.

Re: Sprint booster

I don't know if they feel a lag or not. Will ask him.

I love the Red mode. The RPMS streak upward so nicely.

No, I don't have a Sport mode as mine is a 2013.

Do you have "manual" mode where you can select your gears?

Re: Sprint booster

Well, shoot. I went to Sprint Booster website to see if GC and Durango might use the same part number Sprint Booster. There is no Sprint Booster listed for the Durango. I went to Summit Racing and same deal, no Sprint Booster listed for the Durango. I wonder what the difference is between them and the Jeep or Ram? Do they not have an electronic throttle? Weird.

Yes, and I love that choice. I use the individual gears frequently.

They are the same. I'd put money on them being able to use the gc sb. Remember, they are built on the same line

Thank you for taking the time to answer. I come from the LS world...things are much easier to mess with!

Wonder if there are any good tuners in Colorado...

Re: Sprint booster

Put my SB on earlier today and now noticed I'm getting a check engine light is on. Obviously I did something wrong, but not sure what. Only thing I noticed was the small white clip didn't look like it fully connect. Could that be the issue? How do I get my check engine light off?
