that is because the 3.7 in stock form will not hold up to the boost @ 6psi. the ring lands on the pistons is an 1/8th inch from the top of the piston and when you throw boost at it, you end up heating up and melting the ring lands even at 6psi...
kenne bell had a prototype S/C they had developing on the liberty back in 02/03. they had a 2.1 liter S/C on it and all the supporting mods. Tune and fuel system. It made 6 dyno runs before it blew, and before it did, the 3.7 put down 302hp at the wheels.
Now I believe that forged 4.7 parts will work in the 3.7, and with a rebuild one could get a 3.7 to see 18psi. I am doing all the research I can on this and feel a safe number is 10-12psi. with supporting mods it could see 550 RWHP. and still have a good safe margin
