Tapping noise in 2014 WK2 JCG 3L TD
has anyone else had any issues with their diesel? Ours being roughly 2-3 weeks old..
I have had a first issue when driving on holidays from Alice Springs to Darwin 1500km, I towed a trailer and car for a car show. 2 days after I got there the car started a ticking noise in the engine. I took it straight to Kerry's Jeep who said not they have no time to even look at it there for I have to book it in.
The hardest possible effort was made from them to simply book in a vehicle, I have to have all the details including rego, vin etc etc before I could book it in. Anyway they had the vehicle for that day and informed me that the Diesiel injector was faulty and that it needed replacing. 6-8 week job.
I contacted Jeep Australia and there service was amazing. they couldnt get us a hire car with towing capacity to drive home with trailer. They flew the 3 of us home and allocated a hire car of same size till I received mine back.
While about to board, Kerrys called to say the car was ready to go? I have no idea how it went from 6-8 weeks to 2 days. but I called Jeep assit and they said fly home and they will sort car out.
We flew home and vehicle was sent to us approx 2 weeks later. Once the vehicle got in town I took to a local dealer to inspect and Kerry gave me no hope. all seemed ok.
While on another long driving holiday currently in Brisbane (3000km from home) the noise started again, I contacted Jeep australia again and they said take to nearest dealer. I drove to nearest dealer, but being around 1300 on a Friday I was told that they wont touch anything that late today and that I would have to book it in.
I decided not to go ahead with that as we were leaving and driving home. with still 6000 km round trip. we headed of and yeah the noise came and went. Was a little concnerd as we were heading home via dirt roads that were a little remote with minimal phone coverage.
WE got back to Alice 3 weeks later and had the vehicle taken to our local dealer and they still cant fault the issue, they did a dump on the exhaust cat and that seemed to have stopped the issue for the current time.
The vehicle is a great 4wd and tows simpy awesome and love the vehicle but in all the dealingst that I have had with Jeep Australia road side assist was awesome and very caring.
But in this I have found a new law that was passed in Australia, called the LEMON LAW. it states along the lines that if you have a issues with the same problem 3 times, that you can request the followin, replacemnt vehicle (not waiting another 7 months) a vehicle from that dealer to the same value of purchase or your money back. I was very interested to hear this from the ACCC and will be keeping that in mind if this car needs to go back for its 3rd time for the same issue.
