Thoughts on aFe Power Pro Dry S Air Filter

Though i am considering a CAI, another option is to just replace the standard air filter with a better one. I have seen the comments re: K&N filters and the potential concern with the use of oil to clean it. I came across this replacement air filter which is "oil free" and wanted to see if anyone has used it and would they recommend it?

Re: Thoughts on aFe Power Pro Dry S Air Filter

2 thumbs up from me. I've used them on my Hemi Aspen, and 4.6 Sport Trac. IMO, hey are the best aftermarket performance filter available. You can vacuum, wash with water, and they last a lifetime. I'd never go back to oiled-gauze -- unless that was the only thing available.

Re: Thoughts on aFe Power Pro Dry S Air Filter

I previously used an aFe panel filter on another car and I thought it was a high quality filter. If there's any performance to be gained from a CAI, I'd guess that an aFe filer in the stock filter box would come pretty close to equaling it. They claim a 37% increase in flow above a pleated paper filter.

Personally, I'm a little skeptical of the CAIs presently on the market for the GC. Without tuning and verified dyno results, I'd guess that most of what people are getting is simply an increase in the level of intake sound. Maybe it's worth it just for that, but I'm going to try the aFe filter first.

I ordered the Airaid Quick Fit Dry kit when Autoanything had 10% off during President's Day Sale. It's supposed to arrive tomorrow. It looked like a nice piece for roughly $160ish shipped.

How did it work out? MPG +/-? Any update would be appreciated as I am debating to get the CAI or the drop in.

Had the afe pro dry drop in, in my raptor. Great filter and would be the only replacment panel filter I'd buy.

I have about 7,000 miles on my aFe dry drop-in air filter...great fit, excellent quality, and no issues.
