Re: Top Speed V6 PentaStar

No, no, we are looking for a vehicle that can go on the road to 110-120millas and off road is tough as the Dodge Ram Hemi.

We are testing Jeep Cherokee off road, is excellent, the problem is offered by freeway is governed 110m/h, when Dodge Ram w/hemi, superchip 120-130m/h.

are used by police state to patrol roads and unpaved roads

Re: Top Speed V6 PentaStar

We do not use Ford gives a fails of transmission at high temperatures in the BAJA, Mexico deserts, the most resistant to Dodge and Jeep we are, we have temperatures of 45-50 degrees centigrade.

Re: Top Speed V6 PentaStar

I really don't think that the WK2 would be a doable police car for what you guys got going on. Its not tough enough.

Have you guys checked into something like a Subaru or are those cars too low for you guys?

Re: Top Speed V6 PentaStar

from what i've seen so far, the GC will be a wiring nightmare for your department. I would also give the tailgate flip up window 2 weeks before falling off. There is absolutely zero LE aftermarket for the car.

Try a Tundra.

Any car can be turned into a police car with lights, sirens, and radio. But the WK just isn't tough enough to handle hard long term driving off road/on road. There is a reasons why trucks like the WK don't make it as a police car.

I'm certainly going to have to disagree there. Sure, throwing "lights, sirens and a radio" into any car isn't all that difficult, but finding the power for it all, not to mention cable routing, integration with factory systems, and overall having a driveline that can support all of these additional items along with running the AC 247 in the middle of the desert? Combine that with a less-than-ideal primary battery location (an in cabin battery is awesome for radio head components, but running all that wire under the seat would be a pain), tough routing location for power/antenna wires thru the headliner, etc. Pass. I would be less concerned with the offroad driving than the durability of the rest of the components.

Can you run 100 amp to the trunk? How easy is it to modify a brake light override? Is there an adequate ground in the trunk? Do our jeeps have can-bus? How are you going to work around that? Chrysler could barely come up with a solution for the charger. Speaking of the charger - can you imagine the brake wear on a working Wk2? The first issue chargers were running thru brakes 5-6k miles!

I'm also not sure what you mean by "trucks like the wk" ... there are a handful very capable full size SUVs that handle this abuse very well - tahoe PPV/SSV are great. PB thrashes their PPV's and they hold up reasonably well.

Anyway, I'm not extremely well versed on LE south of the border, but I really cant imagine the WK2 being a great service vehicle.

Re: Top Speed V6 PentaStar

Subaru, a car is too low.

To convert the vehicle to "police car" was just installed a siren and strobes, the practicality of a Jeep Cherokee that officers can use it comfortably in the city.

can circulate in the road and when you need out of the way they can do, so we tested the Jeep Cherokee.

wanted to test the v6, the distances that sometimes have to travel without a gas station, 400km.

We have since September 2010 with 20 units, v6 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the only complaint of the officers is the mole 110millas, everything else is perfect, not always in rough roads, but when dealing with the Jeep Cherokee in perfect working conditions extreme cold and heat.

all units have been modified to ask oil changes to 10,000 km.
suspension was reinforced and protected the transmission.

For road use the hemi v8 charger with modified stability program for the police, can reach 240km.

I can tell you personally use the Jeep Cherokee 4x2 in snow, rain and mud and runs excellent traction control.

In Mexico we have the Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 produces shielded level 5 and the problem is the same, 160km / h.

Re: Top Speed V6 PentaStar

Sometimes I use my JGC to drive to work when my issued crown vic is broken, Just wearing my duty belt is a pain in the butt in that car compared to the crown vic or even the chevy tahoe (we have a lot of the new model Tahoe's in our fleet) I cant imagine working a full shift and jumping in and out of that car. IMO

Re: Top Speed V6 PentaStar

last Saturday I needed to reach the speed limit Jeep Cherokee, a BMW 328i, do not respect the regulations on the highway Tijuana - Los Cabos (Baja Mexico) should pursue for about 200km to give reach.

the problem was straight, where the Pentastar v6 only reaches 180km and the BMW 328i, the top speed is 222km, with 193hp, 100 less than the Pentastar.

No one had the support of other units, police charger version (240km) or Dodge Ram with superchip, 200km.

definitely on the straights could not reach where I could stop was the curves and elevations of the road, have more power in the Pentastar the estabiiidad 180km 2-way road is excellent.

If anyone knows the roads BAJA MEXICO, know they are not as free Ways in USA, we have many curves, hills and many are only 2 ways.

I am convinced that Grand Cherokee V6 Pentastar 2011 is fantastic, we only need to remove the top speed, without limiting the speed it probably would have stopped at 30-50km.

It is only experience the land of OFF ROAD, Baja Mexico, where if necessary to force the vehicles to the limit.
