Re: Towing and fuel economy 3.6L not acceptable

How can one tell that it never shifts in 5-th gear?

Re: Towing and fuel economy 3.6L not acceptable

Are you ativating the Tow Haul button while towing? This will improve shifting while towing, especially on hills, but will prevent tranny from going into Overdrive (5th gear) so may impact MPG.

Re: Towing and fuel economy 3.6L not acceptable

When I towed my empty trailer to the scales the weight of my trailer is around 800 pounds. I lost 2 mpg and I was using my overdrive. So you towing with a somewhat loaded trailer with a new engine getting 11-12 mpg isn't shocking.

Re: Towing and fuel economy 3.6L not acceptable

a gas engine can never compare to a diesel in terms of towing.
with gas you'll always be winding it out and kicking it down.
diesel has superb low end torque which allows it to stay in top gear at times that a gas engine will drop to 3rd even.
that said, i have been hauling my 3000 lb race car and gear with my hemi and hardly notice it behind me (probably around 5k lbs total).

V6 models do not get a tow haul mode.

From what I've seen, only the Hemi has a Tow/Haul button. Not included with the Pentastar V6 for some reason.

All the more reason to buy the Hemi if you plan to tow!

Or just shift it your self. I think the tow/haul button is useless with cars that has the autostick. Buying the Hemi to tow 2-3K pounds worth of stuff would just be a waste. Save that for places with a lot of hills or more heaver loads IMO

Re: Towing and fuel economy 3.6L not acceptable

Under normal situations, the V6 is supposed to be around 9-10 L/100 Kms.
20 L/100 Kms is terrible... thats what my H2 gets right now under normal driving.
I too have a snowmobile trailer that I will be towing two 600 E-TEC's, so I hope those numbers change big time... or i might have to consider something else to replace my H2.

The WK2 doesn't have an autostick. It has an automatic. The ERS control simply limits top gear like shifting your old three-speed automatic from D to 2 or L.

Actually, the 3.6 I test-drove did have auto shift
