if i'm looking at this correctly, section 2 is the muffler. if i owned one of these i would remove the muffler and run a X pipe where the muffler is and replace the resonators with strait thru 4" round magnaflows. then you would have a badass true dual setup.

Re: True dual exhaust for Hemi?

That 2nd piece is one of three mufflers. The system is actually well designed and relatively free flowing considering it is factory. They embraced the several smaller mufflers inside of chocking the hell out of it with one. This is all from a local MN custom exhaust guru (does a lot of work for local track cars and customs etc) not me personally. Anyway I recently had the two rear mufflers chopped, mandrel bent sections welded on with long magnaflow tips (the ones that you usually see on pickup trucks) tucked under. It looks awesome and sounds great. One interesting thing I learned from talking to him about the existing systems vs building one is that none of the systems out there utilize a true xpipe. Anything like an xpipe is too far back in the system to get true gains. Again his opinion not me pretending to be a pro.

Usually the weird shaped mufflers do have a crossover section built in. Going with a true dual setup by getting rid of the factory cross over (and not replacing it with an aftermarket merge) could result in some power loss.

I bet it would sound beefy if you deleted the muffler and in place put a burns ss x-over.
