Had to change it because of baby and needing 4 doors but sometime in the future that M3 shall be mine. Ohh yes, malicious laughter. Muahahahahahaha.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions...

Sorry in advance for long post and thanks in advance for checking the numbers.
I am in the exact same boat. My 2002 v6 Explorer gets very close to the same MPG as the 2014 Hemi. I also saw a post that the Hemi and its cylinder deactivation (MDS) can have costly problems and that did not help. Does anyone know of any issues with this?

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

Other than on this forum, every V6 owner I have ever talked to says they wish they had gotten the V8.

I love the V8 in mine, wouldn't have it any other way. Rented a V6 one time, it was adequate but I could never own one.

Gas mileage is more dependent on driving style than engine choice, if I had the V6 I would be pushing it hard, and I would get lousy mileage. With the V8 I can just drive normally and have fun doing it.

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

Does anyone think there will be a market for V8's in 2016 when it comes time to unload your 2014?

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

As long as there is a U.S.A I would think there is a market for V-8 power. Probably not too politically correct but, at least to me, the V-8 (in it's various incarnations) is what American muscle is all about.
Just my two cents...

I don't tow anything and if the V6 has enough power to move the SUV and returned the same gas mileage as my car at the moment I don't see why not.

Maybe tomorrow I'll change my mind again. Hehehehe

I have a V8 2014 Overland and couldn't be happier. I really don't care about MPG and Gas Prices. At the end of the day I want a spirited driving experience, ability to tow what I want, and nice overtake speed. Gas prices are gas prices and we can't control them. At the end of the day the price isn't going to stop me from filling up my tank when it's on empty.

I might as well have said eff it entirely and gotten the HEMI.

Apparently this will go down as NOT one of my more responsible family decisions. I already drive a 2002 Wrangler as my DD that I have been able to say "oh well" to on fuel because I love it so much.

I hope I don't end up regretting this purchase.

Talk me off the ledge?
That's what I thought a few weeks ago when I filled up in the Hamptons. I only use mid grade with the Hemi. It was $4.59/ gallon. The premium was $4.99.

Give the engine time to break in, use the Eco mode in the city and hwy to see if that increases your mpg and lay off the gas pedal and the jack rabbit take offs from the red lights.

Speaking of MPG CBJ. I just bought a fractional of the new HondaJet. Flying down to see her next week.
