Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

Call me cheap, but just got the 6 in a 2013 Laredo... got 24.5 mpg on the Interstate going to Cincinatti at 75 mph. Only 3,000 miles on the vehicle so far. Can't beat that with still enough power to tow my Polaris Ranger around when i need to. Gas prices are only going to go up, and it's like throwing money out of the tail pipe... i like the fuel economy.

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

I have a 2014 Limited V6 and I love it. This truck does have the dual exhaust which I love; however, there are very limited options for a new system. The borla system for the 2013 V8 fits, but it was not tested for the V6. The gas is great and has plenty of power.

Yeah so have you seen it on the jeep site? have you tried to clock ur jeep from 0-100? i got around the same time.. 8.7 / 8.6 (stop watch on the iPhone)

I got the v8. I love the exhaust note when it starts up.

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

Love the Hemi, especially with the Hemifever/Diablosport tunes! Coming from a BMW M3, I needed to be able to feel that extra power. I also get similar MPG but now no need to fill up with Premium fuel.

Totally agree on the MPG.. I am used to low mileage, but used to high test on most engines I have had lately except the Wrangler.

I will say, even with the knowledge that millions of these V8s are around, it does stroke my ego to know i have the biggest one.. lol.. I know... stupid.

Yeah I've seen the time on the Jeep Aus web site, but never really believed it. I do not think the iphone is very accurate.
A couple of other things too - did you time it using sports mode and with traction control turned off?

EDIT: I haven't timed mine yet...

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

I have a 2013 altitude with the v-6. I bought it because I liked the appearance of the vehicle, if the dealer had one with a v-8, I probably would have taken that instead, but I have no regret with the v-6. even though this is a replacment for my hurricane sandy destroyed 2006 chrysler 300 srt! god, I'm getting old!

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

I have the 3.6 and waiting for a new intake head. I have the infamous P0302 code. Stay with the V-8, the V-6 is a POS.

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

I rented a GC Laredo V6 4x4 at the airport in Butte, MT last week to visit a friend in Jackson, then the Tetons and Yellowstone. I reset the fuel economy computer on my way out.

On the trip to Jackson I drove well over the 75mph speed limit and I averaged over 25 mpg. Overall for the week I averaged 24.5, and that included all the idling, pulling off the road to gawk at the bison and elk and slow speed cruising while at the parks.

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

Consumer Reports ranks the V8's reliability as "below average."
