Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

BMW leather?

Anyhow V8 all the way -- having had 3 x V6 JGC to me it's well worth the extra $ to step up to the Hemi.

V6 used to leave me feeling disappointed all the time as I merged onto highway or took off in traffic.

I am never let down when I mash the pedal to the floor of V8.

Imagine if a jeep overland had cloth seats, but at least they offer both and not a cheap imitation of leather.

You have to give it a try with the new 8 speed. It really makes a difference with the V6. I first drove an overland V8 and a Limited V6 last fall. The V6 was definitely lacking. When I went to test drive the '14, it was a V6, I was really surprised. I then drove the V8 to confirm and found the V6 more than adequate.

Still not sure where you're going with this. Leather us available in BMWs. The base leatherette is much better than cloth. Also consider that every high end performance car with Alcantara is synthetic suede. There is nothing wrong with leatherette as a base fabric.

Sure John there isn't but why is a supposed high line auto maker even offering it?? Leatherette not suede was the issue.

In some case a manufactured product can be better than a natural material, even if it doesn't sound as prestigious. I was looking on a Mercedes forum awhile back and it seemed the majority of folks liked the fake stuff Mercedes uses.

As long as the manufactures clearly describe what they are selling and give us choices, I'm ok with it.

Grrrrrrr, let's get back on topic ppl. Leatherette or no leatherette, who cares this topic is about engines. V6, V8, HP, torque, displacement, spark plugs, heck talk about engine fumes but please talk about the engines. *Papote's breathing in and out*

Okay rant done. But seriously I sub to this thread to learn more about engine perspectives. I already ordered a V6 so i could care less about ppl trying to make everybody order a V8 hemi but please lets get back on topic.

Okay my rants done. *sigh*

papote, you will be happy with the V6. I even drove the Hemi again to reconfirm. Yes it has more power, but not enough to make up for the gas mileage. The new 8spd really helps the V6. More than adequate power for all driving situations.

Yeah john. I'm not even worried about the V6. The JGC is for the wife and me when I'm off work. My daily driver is an 08 Infiniti G35 with 3.5L V6 and that more than enough for me. I drive Chevy tahoes at work all the time and some times the Jeep Wrangler Rubicons and I think the V8 is nice but nothing that the V6 cannot do in this particular vehicle. Also, I live at about 3,800 to 4,000 feet elevation and at those elevation the V8 performs same as a V6 in the road. Which is where the JGC will spend 90% of its life.

I'm happy with my decision and if I had to do it over I will still pick the V6. Now if I could just get the darn truck here. Hehehe

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

just a thought but over 5,000 (curb weight, towed weight, or altitude) V8. Under V6.
