Compared to some of the cars in my stable the 5.7 is like a Prius!! My Mercedes G55 AMG gets about 6 MPG in the city. The box on wheels... My thought is I'm gonna fill up my cars no matter what gas costs so why not get the more powerful engine. Just my .02
I typically grind white rino horn into my gas tank. It really turns the car into something special. My Aventador gets 3 gallons to the mile so the 5.7 is like a nissan leaf.

Funny, I have a 2014 v6 and it feels strong, even at 60mph, no hesitation getting to 75-80mph. Granted the v8 would have much more power, but the 8 speed in the 2014 models does make a difference.

Of course, there would be a huge difference when towing loads. But I'm not usually trying to beat the clock when towing..

So far, at 3200 miles, I'm happy with the v6. I don't tow loads heavy enough (2500 lbs boat) to need the v8, it's very responsive with the 8-speed when not in ECO mode, and it's good on gas (considering the size and weight of the jeep).

I do agree that the HEMI should be faster, especially in the 2011-2013s. Try getting a Hemifever tune, everyone I've seen who has gotten one has loved it.
Loved the tune b/c seat of the pants feeling, dyno b4 and after numbers , or b/c dollars spent? Lol

We have been filling up with E85 here since a local station has it for $2.99 a gallon as opposed to almost $4 for regular. We have been averaging 17mpg with it around town, which we think is pretty good for ethanol.

Then my wife put in a tank of regular, and suddenly the reading can't get higher than 15. It must be getting confused because there is no way we are getting that bad mileage with regular. We were getting about 19 around town.

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

Speaking of Dom Perignon, on Sept. 1st. 2012 I got married to a wonderful woman Beverly. Yesterday we celebrated with friends and opened a bottle of D.P. that was given to us as a wedding gift.Yuk !! Washed it down with a Bud. I know this does not have anything to do with a Jeep, but I must say for some where around $125 - $150 a bottle I expected it to tast a lot better. That being the case, that can of bud should have costed $400 a can.

That's what happens when you keep the bottle of DP under the seat of your Jeep. You need to have a mansion in the Hamptons equipped with a wine cellar, and have your butler turn the bottles daily.

Seriously though, and I've never had DP, since it has a cork it has to be kept on its side or up-side down so the wine keeps the wood swelled up and thus sealed. Keep a corked wine upright (like most big box stores that sell wine) and the cork will dry out. Depending on the humidity that could happen very quickly.

And of course, white wine (including sparkling varieties) has a finite shelf life, even when stored properly.

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

While we're highjacking this thread, let me just say Dom is HIGHLY overrated. You're paying for the name on the bottle, not what's inside. For less than half that price try Veuve Clicquot Brut, it's far superior. Just the same, I'd rather have a Yuengling Black & Tan draft any day.

It has an almost bitter taste, with almost no sweetness whatsoever.
If you mix it about half and half with orange juice, it tastes much better...
[was kicked out of wine snob school, obviously]

Wine is very much like engines. The way to tell if it's good is if you drink it or drive it and like it, it's good.
