Re: V6 gas mileage

for me, so far i have 4,500 miles on my WK2 and aftermarket 20" rims and i haven't gotten any worse than 17.5mpg in winter and 18.2 as of current in the city. Highway tho, i have gotten as good as 26.3mpg that i noticed on a road trip that was 2.5 hours one way. I love the V6 pentastar engine so much more than my V8 engine i had in my '08 WK. So much better on gas mileage with the new engine Fiat & Chrysler made for Jeep.

Re: V6 gas mileage

I have 2500 miles on my V6 Overland and no matter how easy I take, I can't seem to get better then 14.5 to 15.5 mpg this is about %90 suburban and %10 highway. I just filled up last night and put in 14.79 gallons and the trip computer had 217 miles driven. Thats 14.49 mpg average. Not what I was expecting when I traded my 08 Limited wtih the V8 Hemi, on that I would average 13-14 mpg driving the same route. Hopefully with the summer blend and more miles and break in the mpg will improve.

that has to hurt, when i fill mine up all the way, it always reads over 430 miles in the tank just sitting there and once i start driving it usually goes up higher before it starts dropping. Make sure your tires are filled properly. I know that will ruin mpg and not sure if you use flexfuel or not but that causes a huge difference as well. I stopped using flexfuel cause i only go 14-15mpg when i did. I need more mpg per my dollar ratio so i pay the higher price for normal. Hopefully you get better mpg and once you put on some more miles to break it in. You should be getting better than the hemi that's for sure.

It does hurt; I was expexting much better then what I was getting with the Hemi. I do check the tires atleast once a month and they are always within one psi of the psi recomended. Also no flex fuel is used just straight 87 octane. After I filled up last night the DTE only went to 390 miles, I don't think I have ever seen it above 400, but then again I have not driven longer then about 15 mile in one trip.

Re: V6 gas mileage

Just over 5k miles, and we're at about 20 mpg overall. Not bad for driving at altitude. Good mix of city/highway. This is better than the BMW that the Jeep replaced, and with over 100 more HP. Can't complain a bit about that. I like the engine, hate the 5 spd tranny. Bruce

Re: V6 gas mileage

Trip to Amsterdam and back - 995 miles - most highway between 50 - 93 miles/h - 20.6 mpg.
Travel from home to work (over a small hill) - 17.4 mpg

Your issue is your very short trips. The engine is on rich mixture cold start and throwing your mileage out. My situation is very similar.

Re: V6 gas mileage

I'm at 2500 miles total now and getting 17 around town and back and forth to work, and just averaged a tick over 21 on a 500 mile trip last weekend running 70-75mph. Mine is a 4x4, and the gas here has 10% ethanol which will reduce the overall mileage a tick - I'm guessing maybe 5%.

I'm getting the same (20.4)mpg driving in the suburbs. 42/43mph seems to be the "sweet spot". The jeep feels like it gets over the hump and she just wants to go! I calculated the mpg after my last fill up and it was exactly the same as the Evic calc.

Re: V6 gas mileage

The stats listed here have me convinced to go with the V6:

http://www.fuelly.com/car/jeep/grand%20cherokee/2011

I was hoping to see at least a couple examples of people hypermiling the HEMI and get around 20, but doesn't look like it from that site at least.

Re: V6 gas mileage

I just drove about 500 miles this weekend with 4 adults plus luggage and got 22.3 mpg. This was 98% highway driving at about 75 mph. So the highway number on the 4x4 V6 wk2 is right on.
