not sure about your timeline but the 2014's will be out this winter. I'm waiting for the diesel, but it sounds like the v8 & v6 will also get the 8 speed tranny so it may be worth waiting even if you don't go with the diesel.

The flip side of that is that once the 2014's come out, you can probably get a better deal on a 2013 if you can find one..

I'm looking forward to driving the diesel, but on paper it sounds like the performance/acceleration slots somewhere between the v6 & the hemi, probably closer to the hemi. Towing = hemi, gas mileage significantly better than both. For me it seems to be the best compromise.

Years ago I was a paramedic, so I drove the squads (diesels) every day. I always thought that they felt like they accelerated way better than you would expect out of a huge heavy vehicle. I've seen people here refer to that as the "butt dyno" - how it feels when you're driving. I'm not going to be lining up at stoplights & racing, not going to the track with a stopwatch. What I care about is that it FEELS powerful. If I get that feeling, have plenty of towing capacity, and get close to 30 mpg there's nothing more I need. On paper it seems perfect for me.

It's to cool the turbo down. It's bad for the turbo if you just kill the engine while the turbo is still hot.

Re: V6 or V8?

If I didn't have some towing plans, the V6 would be a no brainer...but I'll be needing the increased capacity that the V8 brings for that. Sad to take the mileage hit, but a vehicle has to be able to do what you need it to do. I suspect that most folks that don't have special needs (or desires) could be very, very happy with the V6 engine in this vehicle.
