V6 (Pentastar) Catch Can

I've had the Billet Technology Catch Can installed for about 2 months now. I just checked it yesterday and the can had about an inch of oil in there - so it works pretty well on the pentastar engine. I ordered the V8 Hemi option from BT as the bracket and hose lengths for both engines are the same. Also, I have the BT 'under-the-hood' package. Attached is the list of items from various vehicles that I ordered (with help from Nick at BT) and installed. BT doesn't seem to care to much about the V6 so they didn't even bother to list the package for the V6 even after I confirmed it all fit. Anyway, here is the list and some pics.

Thanks for the info. I see some Pentastar Rams also running them now. That sucks. I was hoping it wasn't needed. I bought the BT can for my Ram during their annual 40% off sale. I may have to grab one for the Jeep next Fall. BT has really nice products.

Back in the days the crankcase used to be vented into the atmosphere.

But as emissions regulations got more stringent they began to route the crankcase vent back into the intake tract.

The problem with that is now that most cars use 5w20 or 5w30 the oil is so light in weight that the oil itself gets sucked into the intake track and gums up your throttle plate or intake tract.

I realized that the 3.6 needs a catch can too the other day when I was swapping my HID capsules and I removed the air filter and so oil on it.

And worse than that I found traces of oil in my intake snorkel.

And not I get a funny rich smell when I warm up the car in the morning that didn't used to be there before.

So a catch can it on my shopping list now and when I install It I need to see how dirty my throttle plate is tool.

^ Yeah --I think their sale is always Nov 15. The 40% off is only for an hour (around noon). Its one of those items you'll want (Hemi's typically run them), but you won't want to pay full price for. They're not cheap, but it's a high-quality unit. Don't buy the ebay copy-cat (UPR) for a few bucks cheaper. Moroso or BT are the ones to get.

Hi, I have a GC 2012 limited 3.6L. I put dual exhaust muffler magnaflow but I dont remove the resonator because the sound is not very good. With only the magnaflow muffler the sound is good but I dont have the best power like a cat back. Your cat back is for the HEMI, what's sound do you have?

Sorry who we're you asking for this? Mine is a single axle back.. (Only the muffler changes). There have been a few guys on here with the 3.6 that did duals in the entire magnaflow system and like them a lot.. There is a member
Jeep_Addicted selling his magnaflow cat back on here for like 500

I just got through with my install. what a work out.

To make it work I had to buy a 5/8 to 1/2 hose joint and a piece of 5/8 heater hose.

When I do the other car it will be like a 10 minute install.

How the heck to you get to the PVC? Isn't it way in the back -- buried somewhere? I was going to add mine, but I currently have some warranty issues (other leaks). I'd hate the dealer to blame anything on that mod. It also seems like a pain to install. It took 5 min on my Hemi Ram.

It's not that bad just wait until the car cools down. There is a plastic pipe the comes up from the passenger side valve cover and goes to the fitting at the back of the manifold it's maybe 8 inches long. Pull it out of the valve cover fitting then you need to wiggle it a bit to get it out of the other fitting. Then install the two included brass 1/2 to 5/8 fittings and the hoses from the fittings go on those. The 1/2 side goes in where the plastic tube was at the manifold and valve cover and the catch can hose connects to the 5/8 side of those fittings. Easy now that I know how to do it. All the tutorials suck so if you ever do it I will be happy to show it step by step with pictures

That exlpains why I needed to go buy the other fitting because I only got one in my package. Slapping Forehead.

I sent Billet Tech an email telling them that maybe they should add an option for a 3.6L specific kit since they 3.6 market seems to need a catch can just as much as the Hemis do.

That included two fittings, and that they could tell the buyer they had to supply their own piece of 5/8" pipe.

Waiting for a response.

****** EDIT*******

They responded that they will pass it on to the production manager ...... not sure what that will mean for future 3.6l buyers.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably add mine once all my other issues are taken care of. I plan to fab my own bracket -- as I'm not paying BT $35+shipping for a straight piece of aluminum with 3 holes in it.

This was after two days.

But my commute includes up hills.

3,000 miles since the last oil change and a quart short according to the dipstick.

Changed the oil in the '11 two weeks ago and drained only 5 quarts.
