Re: v6 towing question

I plan on towing a boat with my V6. It will be close to 4000 when I thow in an extra case of beer. Has anyone added a tranny cooler to the V6 here yet?

Not sure if it will handle the extra case of beer...

Does the V6 come with one standard? I just checked my window sticker and the tow package didn't have one listed.

The V6 tow packaage doesn't come with one. Is the tranny sealed on these?

The Overland V6 comes ready to tow except for ball mount, ball and pin. Electrical hookups, too, but no cooler.

One other thing to keep in mind is that the V6 is more limited in the frontal area of what you are towing...from page 442 of the Owner's Manual the max frontal area is 40 sq ft for the V6 and 60 sq ft for the V8.

My V6 does fine with a 2000 lb pop-up camper but I'd be a bit concerned about towing a 4000+ lb trailer.
I'm not 100% sure yet. We're still deciding on that. I've heard of people towing nice size boats and stuff with the V6, but they didn't say much on how they handled. I'm pretty much in a situation where I want enough room to work with, but I don't want to get much more room then what I need beyond that.

Yes 2003 GC. 3t tri axle mobile home
And with a V8 commodore (think it is a Pontiac in the states).

Plug maintenance???

I bet the Hemi and the v6 get about the same when towing on the highway. I know my Hemi mpg doesn't drop a lot when I have 2000 lbs. on a trailer on the highway. My previous vehicles with 4-bangers and v6's dropped a ton when towing, hell my fusion with a 4-banger gets 4 mpg less with my mountain bike on the back of it.
