BTW, I'm not super techy with cars, (much better with computers), should I risk doing it myself, or should I get my dealer/some mechanic to do it?
I'm revoking your man card if you get the dealer to do it.

It's easy enough.

Care to explain a little further? Why don't you like it anymore?

Re: Volant CAI

ECU adjusts air/fuel mixture. Not as much punch or WOT growl. Still better than stock, but not by much...

I would agree. I would guess stock computer coding negates any real advantage over OEM CAI. Most or all of Hemi growl comes from Corsa.

Re: Volant CAI

Got my Volant last night and installed it today. Geez, I see what you guys mean about the instructions, or lack thereof. Still, it only took about an hour, the hardest part for me being to coax the weather stripping out of its hole on the OEM intake. Didn't want to tear it!

So far, I feel the same improvement in throttle response as most of the others have mentioned. Hopefully, that doesn't go away in time. The sound is good and not as loud and obnoxious as the Mopar intake I had on my '05 Ram, which fits the Jeep better, IMO.

I like the appearance of it under the hood better than the OEM intake, with one exception ..... could they have possibly put any more advertising on it? I mean, why don't the hose clamps say "Volant" somewhere, too? Some of the earlier pictures in this thread show a smooth tube with no logo. I'd have prefered that and/or not to have that big, chrome logo on the airbox, either. It's just a little too much. LOL

Looking forward to running it for a few more miles and seeing what happens over time and with MPG.

Re: Volant CAI

curious on opinions, would it be better served to just replace the air filter only? K&N or aFe?

Once you get the stock air box and look at it, you will understand why you should go the full intake route...

Re: Volant CAI

So my Jeep is headed to aFe as a R&D vehicle for their new V8 CAI.

I removed my Volant and reinstalled the stock intake so they can have a baseline to work from. All i can say is my jeep now sounds like a prius.

The volant is a really cool intake and i look forward to the design and performance gains of the aFe as well.
