The volant is a really cool intake and i look forward to the design and performance gains of the aFe as well.
Thanks keep us posted!

I installed my Volant cold air intake over the weekend and all I can say is Wow!!! What an improvement over the stock intake. Installation was easy. If I could purchase a volant for everyone I would because I would want everyone to feel improvement. Prior to the volant CAI I was a K&N (filter only) fan and I'm not knocking K&N but thanks to this form I am better educated.

Re: Volant CAI

I am also going to sell my Volant CAI. Did not like it fit is horrible the bottom hits the brake lines and I am afraid it will damage them in the long term by rubbing them all the time.
Sound also is not as great as the Mopar CAI I have install.

Re: Volant CAI

I got my Volant CAI delivered last week and installed it right away. As far as fit goes, I have to disagree with nonopr01, everything fit great! At first it seemed like there was an alignment problem, but after I bolted the intake box under the steering fluid reservoir, everything fell into place and the whole system fit without issue with no rubbing. The air scoop had a little bit of play, so I put some double-sided foam tape under the scoop where it rests on the metal and it stops the slight play and keeps it nicely in place. Also, I've read a lot of people have issues with the rubber grommets for the temp sensor and the rubber grommet on the bottom side of the intake box. A rub a little spit on those SOB's and everything slides right in. EVEN the rubber cups on the underside of the engine cover benefit from this trick when seating it back onto the engine.

Performance wise, the throttle response seems smoother especially when I'm feathering the gas. Before throttle response seemed slightly jerky while trying to be easy in the gas.

The sound is tame while just tooling around, almost non-existent. But once you thrash the throttle, that HEMI ROARS! Last night I was driving a few friends home. They were very impressed with the WK2. When my friends wife asked, "are V8's normally so quiet?" I romped the gas and all she said was, "oh ... nice."

So I am ultimately happy with the intake and I got it for a good price. I have been considering getting an exhaust, but with all the talk with droning when MDS kick on I'm very hesitant. I really don't want a LOUD exhaust either, I just want to know it's there. Does anyone know if the stock SRT8 exhaust would mate up to non-SRT8 HEMI's?

I recommend the Corsa exhaust for you (I'm running Volant + Corsa). If I didn't read this forum, I would have no idea that a drone even existed when MDS kicks in. The Corsa is a little too quiet for my taste, but I appreciate it when I have customers in the car. It sounds nice and throaty when you step on it, though. Around town it has a satisfying, if subtle, growl.

Check the brake lines on the left side of the plastic filter box on the bottom where the rubber groomet and you will see that the corner of the filter box is on top of the brake lines. The fit is very bad the rest looks good but that area is for me fail in fit as it can damage the hard plastic lines. Also the sound is better with the mopar CAI.

Re: Volant CAI

Just a heads up folks, if you put on an after market CAI, the only for sure thing you are going to do is VOID YOUR WARRANTY.. Chrysler has sent out tech notes to dealer to specifically check for these when cars come in on warranty...Doen't have to have a thing to do with the engine. If you go in for an oil change and they see the after market CAI they will note it on the service report that will be available to any dealer anywhere... My dealer told me it is a modification and he showed me where any modification can VOID the warranty. Now, MOPAR themselves has a CAI available for the Hemi and it is around 300.00. I called mopar performance and they told me it will NOT affect the warranty. Just food or thought...

Re: Volant CAI

One other aside... I love to pee in corn flakes over all of these "mod" guys... aside from damaging the engine and voiding the warranty.... what are you really getting except NOISE??? It makes me laugh and think about these teen agers that put a 300.00 exhaust system on a '95 subaru to make it bad ass...when the only thing they did is make it louder....
