Re: Volant CAI Install Issue....

Well.....since nothing seems to fit, it's time to start modifying.

Here's how much I had to cut out to get the Volant air box to fit.

This is just first rough cut. I will update once I get done modifying it.

That's a pretty nice cut for the first cut.

Re: Volant CAI Install Issue....

I just recently purchased a 2013 GC Altitude edition. I asked the dealership what mopar add-ons i could get. They said the 2013 mopar catalog hasnt been realized yet because they are designing new parts with new part numbers to fit the 2013s.
The parts guy said there are slight modifications that have been done, if this helps...

Re: Volant CAI Install Issue....

My Volant intake is finally installed!!!

I ended up boxing in the hole with starboard, which is a similar plastic to the actual volant air box. I did my best to fit the pieces to the contours of the box and used a bit of rtv silicone for good measure. It's air-tight and very solid. If it had been in an area where I could actually see it once installed, I would have spent more time making it pretty. In any case, it's in.

The amount I cut out is the absolute minimum necessary to get the box to fit. Based on the area that needs to be modified, I see no reason why Volant couldn't easily and inexpensively modify their mold to allow the box to fit correctly.

Here's some photos....

Re: Volant CAI Install Issue....

The rep at Volant thanked me for bringing the problem to their attention, and indicated that they need a 2013 WK2 5.7L to come into their shop in order to get the air box updated.

He also said that they would send me a new air box once the new ones are ready.

Re: Volant CAI Install Issue....

I had that air box in my 2012 WK2 and it did not fit the way I wanted. Put it in the trash next morning and got a Mopar CAI perfect fit.
I actually wrote an email to those guys and since then I have not received any correspondence from them in regard the same issue I had back in 2012.
It suck that you have to pay that much money and at the end it does not fit properly.

Unfortunately, it doesn't fit either!

The same damn brake line is in the way.
Wish I had seen this sooner. I would've loved to have taken it off your hands.

I have the Bwoody tube and K&N filter, but no box of any kind, just the filter hanging out in space. I like the clean look of the Volant but can't seem to find anyone to sell me just the box.

strange, i didnt have an fitment issue in my 14' summit. I had to slide it in at an angle to avoid the brake lines but other than that its a good fit
